Fun fold Friday Beach Day

A simple fun fold this Friday using the Beach Day stamps and Dies. I have to say I've had great fun creating with the stamps and dies. They really do make you think of sunny days at the beach ⛱️

The fun fold is a simple stepper card that only requires 3 scorelines!  It starts with a piece of cardstock measuring 10.5cm x 20cm  ( 4¼" x 8") Now score at 2.5cm, 5cm and 12.5cm ( 1", 2" and 5"). Starting at the first scoreline fold mountain,  valley and mountain. This is the very basic card base.

To decorate you can add extra cardstock to the large front panel that can measure what ever you wish just make sure it fits in an envelope 😉 For today's card I created a blended beach scene. The wave dies work beautifully to add depth and movement to the card.

One of the great things with this card base is that you can decorate over the top edge. This creates lots of interest.  The seagulls are great for this!

The reverse of the card makes the perfect place to write your message.

Well that's all from me this week. I have a very busy few day with my very active 6 ½ year old grandson,  wish me luck 🤣.

I hope you'll join me back here next week as Gill will be sharing her creations with us all.

Have fun

This or that Thursday Beach Day

Do you like to colour? Or paper piece? That is today's This or That conundrum.  Both  cards are identical apart from how the fun surfboards from the Beach Day stamp set get their colour!

The first card has a soft colour palette and is coloured in with alcohol markers. The yellow background has been embossed with the fun So Swirly embossing folder. The pops of black help to give this card a crisp feel even though the colours are subtle.

The paper pieced card has a colour palette that uses shades of the same colours as the coloured in one. But the colours have a more regal feel to them. The pattern papers used are from the Regals 6"x6" paper pack. Again the pop of black gives the card a lovely crisp feel.

So which do you prefer 🤔 to colour? Or to fussy cut?

Watercolour Wednesday Beach Day

Summer has returned to my small corner of the world 😀 but sadly for me a trip to the beach is not on the cards 😢.  By using the Beach Day stamps and dies I can let my imagination take me there!

Beach day stampin up simple watercolour wash background card

The background is a simple wet watercolour wash. The images are stamped and watercoloured in,  not my greatest skill for sure!

The sentiment is stamped directly onto the card base whilst the focal point is mounted onto black cardstock and popped up on 3d foam.

The grasses and shells are stamped directly onto the watercolour panel.  The other images are stamped,  coloured and then die cut out.

I have to say my personal favourites are the seagulls !

Tips tricks and techniques Tuesday Beach Day

Do you dream of sitting in a deak chair just watching the sea at the beach? If you do today's card is right up your street! Using the dies from the Beach Day dies that coordinate with the the stamps today's card is a peaceful scene.

Beach day stampin up window card appature card

For today's card I created a simple appature through which you are drawn to the beautiful paper representing the sea. The paper is from the Thoughtful Journey pattern paper. With it's watercolour effects it's perfect for such cards.

The soft colours are delightful and  set the colour palette for the card.

Cut the circle through the mat first then place the mat over the card front with the die still in place. Now put it through your machine. If your machine doesn't cut the circle completely you will at least have the grooves into which you can place the die once the mat is removed.
Next create 2 circular frames using white cardstock . The inner circle is the same die as the appature then use a slightly larger die and line them up together so that they cut the frame out.
Adhere the front mat after embossing with the So Swirly embossing folder. This is a fun folder that works well for so many styles.

The next step is to adhere the pattern paper to the inside of the card.

Now time to decorate.  I kept it relatively simple as I wanted to invoke a sense of peaceful calm.

Dies can certainly be a useful tool to create easy cards especially if you're not keen on fussy cutting 😉

Make it simple Monday Beach Day

Happy summer bank holiday Monday 😎. Such a shame that the weather turned on my birthday,  last Thursday,  into autumn 🍂.  So for this week I'm continuing summer ☀️ by using a stamp set called Beach day  This stamp set comes with coordinating dies too which is a bonus that I'll share projects with later in the week

Beach day stampin up simple stamping easy cardmaking

So as it's Monday it's #simplystamping . So here is a very simple card to start the week off with.

Using just 1 image and repeating it can create a fun focal point. I have used the surfboard image and coloured them in with pencils in a rainbow colour palette.

The sentiment seemed fitting as rainbows are beautiful 🌈 after all 😍.

Pop back tomorrow for more inspiration using the fun Beach Day ⛱️ stamps and coordinating dies.

Fun Fold Friday - Embraced With Love

Hello and thank you for joining me for the last day this week. I have been using the lovely stamp set called Embraced With Love and I really have had great fun too. Today's of course is a Fun Fold card. It is not my design but one that the lovely Rachel Tessman from Stamp Your Art Out.com has made.

I used a piece of Winter Meadow DSP (patterned paper) measuring 10.5cm by 30.5cm or in Imperial measurements, 4,1/8" by 12". I scored the paper at 0.5cm from the right hand side and 15cm or 5,7/8", basically in half. The paper piece needs to be the full length of the design, so that when the card opens you will see the image is Portrait...full length. You will see more in the pictures. Of course, you can actually make this so that the design is a landscape design instead.

Rachel calls this card a TWIST CORNER TRI-FOLD CARD. The twist you can see is the piece of DSP that is twisted back on itself on the very front. I used the dies from Unbounded Love for the sentiment mats and the leaves too which were die cut in Pretty Peacock card.

The idea is that as you lift the folded flap up it opens into the long card. I embossed the piece of card which is 10.5cm by 12.5cm or 5" by 4,1/8" I used the Boho Blue card with the spots embossing folders from the 3D Basic Shapes. I love these folders.

Once embossed, I added a white mat which had been stamped with the sentiment already. This mat was 10.5cm by 7cm or 4,1/8" by 2,3/4"

Above is the full length of the paper. I used a piece of DSP from the Winter Meadow papers. It is in beautiful blues and greens.

If you were to use some DSP in landscape position, you would be able to see the card this way and the portrait one would stand this way too but obviously it will be very long lengthwise. The paper was joined to the piece of card at the 0.5cm piece at the edge of your dsp.

Well, that's it from me for this week, Cary will be back on Monday with some more inspiration for you. Until I return, please take care, look after yourselves but as always.......

KEEP ON CRAFTING

Thank you again,
😍😍  xxx  Gill  xxx  😍😍

This or That Thursday - Embraced With Love

I have really had fun this week with this stamp set. I've even had the family smiling and falling in love with them too! I have been using Embraced With Love stamps and today I have added a few more stamps and the dies from the Charming Duckpond and dies from Winterley Tree Tops too. Quite a mish- mash of stamps etc but if they work, then why not?

My THIS card I started by using a Granny Apple Green mat and die cut the frame from the Winterley Trees dies. I wanted to make it so the bear and rabbit were deep in the forest hiding as the bear was poorly. I guess even bears get poorly too, don't they?

THIS

My THAT card is in the same colours more or less as the THIS card but this time I have used the frame dies from the Charming Duck Pond. I coloured in some of the bullrushes and have given the bear a really bright blanket and added a few frogs to cheer him up. They may even sing the frog chorus to him to make him feel better!!! You never know? Stranger things have happened!

Watercolour Wednesday - Embraced With Love

Hello again. Today I have actually done some proper watercolouring again. After stamping the image onto a piece of Fluid 100 water colour paper, I started to watercolour. Now I'm not sure what the animals actually are but to me they look like racoons. Once again I'm not sure what colours they are so I have used Pecan Pie and Cajun Craze ink pads to water colour them in. I also used the Whisper White Ink pad to tone in with some of the colour and mixed it over to make some of the lighter parts. Basically, I roughly copied the images in the seasonal catalogue! I actually stamped 5 lots of these and eventually settled on the colour combo that I liked. I apologise to animal lovers if my colouring is wrong. I really enjoy the calm of water colouring it is so relaxing. The brush slides across the paper and the paper soaks up the colour so quickly that you have to work well with some tissue or something to soak up the water and build the colour up in many layers.

I recently pre-ordered a pack of NEW DSP from the Winter seasonal Mini catalogue and I used a piece for the mat on my card base. It is called Splendid Autumn. They are 6" by 6" papers and they are gorgeous. The scenery in them all so beautiful and the backs of the papers are just as stunning too! I added the fussy cut animals into the centre of the flowers to show them nestling down for a cuddle.

I then finished off by adding a sentiment or 2. I used the Oval duo punch for the sentiment on the front of my card.

Tips, Tricks and Texhniques Tuesday - Embraced With Love

Tuesday's technique card is another very simple one. Today, using the Embraced With Love stamp set I have stamped the kangaroos 3 times. Each kangaroo was stamped onto a 1,3/4" circle punch and using my blends pens, I coloured them in. I used a complete mix of colours as I couldn't decide what colour they should be! I tried browns, greys and a combination of both. The latter is what I finished on.

I made a card base using the Pecan Pie card and Basic Beige card for the mats. I embossed the mat using one of the Basics 3D embossing folders. 3 folders for only £28 is a bargain in my book. I had a scrap of Cajun Craze card on my desk so punched out 3 circles with my 2" circle punch and mounted the images onto them. I do love a punch!!

I cut another mat of Basic Beige, 6cm wide and matted it onto the strips from the rest of the Cajun Craze card and then mounted the images across the front, I finished off with some sentiments and stamping the hands of the kangaroos only onto the bottom right of the inside of the card. I have also embossed the right-hand edge of the mat too using the embossing folder.

Make It Simple Monday - Embraced With Love

Hello and thank you for joining me today. This week I am going to be making some cards using a stamp set from the new seasonal mini catalogue. Today's is Embraced With Love. This little estamp has sat in my drawer for a few weeks and now it's time to share some cards with it.

A very simple card as it's #simplestamping day today. I stamped the polar bear/bear and rabbit with Memento black ink and using my cheap colouring pencils, coloured it in. My idea of the animals is that they are a winter rabbit and a polar bear. You could call them what you like but that's my name for them. A simple colouring in with pencils and a little very light blue to 'ground' the image on the page a little better.
