Memory keeping with Everyday Happiness

Hello long time no posting 🫣 It's been super busy here at Cary's Creative Table.  One of the fun things that has been happening is our monthly memory keeping class/crop. Now I'm in no way a scrapbooker but I am really enjoying creating samples for this fab group of crafters. As an avid card maker stepping into the new and exciting creative outlet I'm learning as I go!. I'm developing my own style as I create more samples for the sessions. And of course I'm learning from the wonder crafters who join me! I held a pole and the group chose the papers. For this month's session they chose  the beautiful Everyday Happiness pattern papers and sticker sheet.

These papers have a beautiful  colour palette of soft teals and greys with pops of sandy/ gold yellow. The mix of geometric and floral patterns make for lots of inspiration.

The coordinating sticker sheet is a full 30.5cm x 30.5cm size. The stickers are lightweight cardstock, self adhesive and sized just right for scrapbooking.  The selection of images, tags and places to journal work so well together and with the beautiful papers.

What I'm learning on my memory keeping journey is that I approach it in much the same way as I do an A6 card! I like open space, diagonals and favor a more clean and simple look... although this double page spread isn't particularly clean and simple 🤣
This first page has just 1 large photo but lots of stamping and die cut out flowers! The stamps and coordinating dies are called Everyday You and Me. The coloured cardstock is a Two-tone cardstock. Meaning that one side is a true colour and the other is a lighter verification it. This layout uses the soft grey colour called Gray Granite.
The large foliage sprigs are stamped in gray granite ink onto the light side of the cardstock panel. The florals are stamped using the mid and darker shades of teal called Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock.

For the second page I  mirrored the cardstock and added 3 spaces for photos and/ or journalling.
A top tip for when adding embellishments over the corner of photo mats is to add a piece of cardstock that covers the area but only adhere it the the outer edges with a very thin strip of adhesive. The embellishments can the be adhered to the cover piece but still allow a photo to be slipped in.

The addition of the 2 large diagonal pieces of cardstock also allow for the creation of pockets to allow you to add extra photos, journalism and or ephemera.
The pages are what is called a double page layout.  These pages would work either way . With the paper in the center of the cardstock.

These memory keeping events are a firm favourite of mine.  Especially because everyone creates their own version of the inspiration and/or takes the materials and crafts their own beautiful and unique pages.

Beautiful gallery fun fold card

Every Monday afternoon is Live at 5 time over on my Facebook page.  And I thought I'd share another version of the fun fold card I share this week. This version is made exactly the same except I've used the Beautiful Gallery... again! I know I'm somewhat obsessed with it at the moment but I promise to put it away ... well for a little while at least... and use something else!

This card also uses the stunning peony flower from the Gallery blooms bundle. Peony's are one of my favourite flowers as I grow them in my garden. I have a very small Peony plant that fingers crossed will bloom next year that should be the same corally colour of the one I coloured for this card.

The fun fold is very simple to create and has plenty of opportunities to change it up with different shaped appatures. I have used the Textured Notes dies to create the appature as I did in the live over on Facebook on Monday.

As always I like to make sure that no pretty paper is wasted! So I used it, along with the die cut from the card base, to decorate the area on the reverseof the card, where I would write my message.

Here is the video from my Live at 5. I share how this fun fold is made so why not watch and have a go yourself 😀

Beautiful gallery Father's day card

Today it's Father's day here in the UK so I thought I'd share the card I've made for my step-dad. Of course it had to be made using the amazing Beautiful Gallery papers 😅. These papers have definitely become a firm favourite of mine if you couldn't tell 😉. The card also uses the Woven Textures papers. These are so useful with their natural good looks and gentle colour palette.

So here it is....

This is a very big card something different for me.  The focal point is a whole piece of the 6" x 6" paper.

The card is a modified Z-fold style with lots of space to decorate.

The sentiment inside the card uses a technique called eclipse.

Beautiful gallery use a whole 6x6 piece of paper on an A6 card

Today I'm sharing the measurements for the card I made during my Live at 5 Facebook live on Monday just gone.  The ink to the video is below. The card is made using "That" paper.  You know the one that is so gorgeous you just don't want to cut it up! Well today I'm sharing a great way to make a standard A6 ( or A2 if you're in the US) that will showcase that gorgeous 6" x 6" pattern paper. So "That " paper for me is the stunning botanical illustration from the Beautiful Gallery papers.

This beautiful paper jumped out the packet at me because it reminds me of the beautiful rose that I have by my own front door.

What do you think? It's also has a beautiful fragrance that wants at you as you leave and return home 🤍

The card starts with a piece of cardstock measuring 14.85cm x 19.5cm scored at 3.5cm and 14cm. ( 5 ½" x 7¾" scored at 1½" and 5½"). Next trim the hight of the pattern paper to 14.4cm (5¼") Then score it at 9.5cm (3¾").

The fancy frame on the front is cut using a die from the Storybook Friends die set.

Beautiful Gallery use up That paper cards

Do you have any of "That" paper? You know the one that is drop dead gorgeous... but? But you don't know how to use it? But it's just to difficult to see beyond the whole image? Well today's inspiration are made using just one such paper! The paper for me that is "That" paper in the Beautiful Gallery papers pack. The paper in this pack are 6"x 6" and are all gorgeous but this particular one is a stunning botanical print and it was very difficult to cut up! But after class on Saturday I realised I wasn't the only one who had this problem! So I thought let's just do it!

Here is the beautiful paper...

Is she just stunning 😍 The vintage botanical illustration is so beautiful that all it needs is a frame! But I was tasked with using it on standard A6 cards. So today's inspiration is 2 simple cards to show how careful cutting can make the paper do all the talking.
Start by cutting the paper, I know it's ouchie but it will be worth it just wait and see 😉. I started by covering half the paper with scraps of card to see where the best vertical line to cut was. For this paper I decided to cut 8cm in from the right-hand edge. As the paper is 6" I did have to trim a fraction on the bottom as our card bases are 14.85cm tall.

Beautiful gallery stampin up 2 card from 1 6x6 pattern paper

To overcome the deficit of pattern paper on the left hand side I added a small stip of mossy green cardstock then a beige layer that I embossed using the gorgeous Damask Designs embossing folder. Both the paper and the embossing folder are a part of the Beautiful Gallery suite collection and are a part of the Sweet Suite buy one get one half price offer that's available during the months of June 2025. So you could purchase the paper and recieve the embossing folder for half price!
The colour palette used on both cards are drawn from the paper itself.  The dark green is called mossy meadow and the flash of soft corally pink is called petal pink. The basic Beige works well with the dark brown called early espresso.
For the second piece of paper I rotated it so that it became a horizontal image. This allows the panel to be used on a landscape card base rather than the portrait orientation of the first card.
If you look back at the whole sheet you'll see that there is a fine line drawn around the image. As the paper is now trimmed down I took a fine marker pen and drew lines to continue this look.
The card base is in the deep mossy green with the petal pink as a mat. The petal pink ribbon adds texture to the card as do the pressed flower embellishments.

So 1 piece of "That" paper cut to create 2 cards.  What do you think 🤔  was it worth cutting this beautiful paper up?

Beautiful Gallery double gatefold card

Do you ever look at some of the beautiful papers in your stash and think I just don't want to cut into that? Well that's the problem I faced with the gorgeous papers in the Beautiful Gallery pack. This pack of 6"x 6" paper is contains 4 each of 12 double-sided designs. The designs are reminiscent of old world art galleries with their florals and moody landscapes.

Beautiful gallery stampin up double gatefold card

Wanting to share the beauty of the papers make choosing a fun fold with lots of space for papers the right choice. This simple double gatefold worked out perfectly!
The card base starts with a piece of cardstock measuring 14.85cm x 28.5cm (5½" x 10⅞") scored at 4.75cm and 9.5cm (1⅞" and 3⅝") from both ends. The scorelines are then folded in to a mountain the valley from each end too. Make sure to burnish these folds well with your bone folder.
Decorating the card is where the paper can truly do all the work for you. All mats are 0.5cm smaller each layer for example 4.25cm x 14.4cm  (⅜" smaller for example 5¼" x 1⅜") for the small side panels. The video below shows how.
The card folds flat for postage.

Yet stands beautifully when open.

This gorgeous paper is part of the Beautiful Gallery suite collection.  The suite comprises of 2 stamp sets and coordinating dies, an elegant embossing folder, vintage gems and of course the gorgeous papers.

A simply decorated white panel on the reverse is the perfect space to write your message.
