Watercolour Wednesday - Time Together

Today's watercolour is quite subtle. Using the stamps I stamped the timer from a piece of Fluid 100 watercolour paper which I had soaked several times with Azure Afternoon ink and water. It took a while to dry as I wanted it as close to the true colour as possible. While it was drying, I started on the card base itself. This is a simple style of card with a smaller card attached behind the inside white mat. I used some of the paper from Bright's range of designer series paper, DSP, I added a strip on the one side only and added and embossed mat to the front of the smaller card. I used one of the Stripes and Splatters embossing folders for the embossing.

Once the watercolour paper was dry, I stamped the timer in Memento Ink and then some of the other stamps on the inside. Then using my Azure Afternoon Blends pens, I coloured in the sand and then added some little hearts from the large heart die from another piece of the DSP.

Technique Tuesday - Time Together

Today's card using the Time Together stamp set is in one of my favourite colours, Poppy Parade, RED!!

This time I only used the lower half of the timer stamp. I inked up to the centre point in the soft blue of Balmy Blue ink pad. From there, I added lots of the pretty little flowers. The larger flower to the top and a few XOXO hearts and it was complete. I mounted the white mat onto a piece of the Poppy Parade card and both were added to the card base which now has a white embossed mat using the Metal Plate embossing folder. A sentiment onto the banner which I fussy cut out and the card was complete.

Make It Simple Monday - #simplestamping - Time Together

Hello and thank you for joining me today. This week I am going to be sharing some cards made using the Time Together stamp set and later in the week, the dies too. Each time I saw the stamp set in the catalogue I studied it and then went past it. One day, I decided to order the bundle. There was something about this set that I needed to work with... no idea why but there it is.

So my first card is a very basic, simple card. Using only a White card base, I stamped the timer (sorry, I don't know the correct name for it) onto the front of the card base and then the extra elements. A few flowers and such later, I coloured them in with my granddaughter's colouring pencils. They are ordinary pencils that can picked up very cheaply, so easy to use and colour in with.

Fun fold Friday kit's collection

Sometime I just look at a kit and know that I can step it up in a certain way. And the kit I chose to highlight for today's post is one such kit . Called Light the Candles this fun kit make 4 cards each of 2 designs using pretty glittery panels and intricate diecut overlays.

As soon as I saw the kit I knew I wanted to make a shaker card with them. So for today's final card of the week I did just that 😁

First I made the shaker element.  I used the glitter panel and the diecut overlay piece for the candle card. I took a piece of acetate and some pretty silver sequin mix along with some 3d foam strip . First I adhered the acetate to the back of the diecut panel. I then added 3d foam strip all around the outside of the glitter panel. Ensuring there were no gaps.  I then took a good pinch of sequins and popped them inside the 3d foam strip area. Carefully removed all the tape backing and placed the acetate and diecut panel on top enclosingv the sequin mix.

With the shaker part made I created the rest of the card. I decided on a simple landscape easle card. This is simply a piece of cardstock measuring 14.85cm x 21cm scored at 5.25cm and 10.5cm.  Then fold both scorelines as mountain folds.

I used one of the card bases from the kit and cut it into mats to decorate my card base. I used the sentiment strips and couloured panels to work as a stopped and decorate the card.

The nice thing about an easle card is that it folds flat for posting . The shaker element is added to the center of the front of the card when it is layed flat and only adhered to the bottom panel.

For a space to write a message I had a white die cut piece laying on the table that fitted perfectly so waste not want not 😉

All in all this was a quick and easy transformation of the card from the kit using minimal surplies from my stash.

So back to googly eye's here's the card with them...

And here's the one without them...

I have to say I'm not a fan of googly eyes but I know some are. So are you team googly or team not for me?

The cards are both created from 1 card and envelope from the kit with the addition of coloured card bases from my stash. The stickers from the kits are all die cut and self adhesive which makes it a great kit for kiddos to do by themselves. A fun activity for the rainy summer holidays we're experiencing here in the UK.

Watercolour Wednesday kits collection

Question how you watercolour with a kit? Answer Smooshing! Yep for today's inspiration I've used the remains of a kit called Sentimental Rose.  This very pretty, soft and somewhat romantic kit includes stamps that are simply gorgeous.

As with most kit's there are leftovers and today I've used some from this kit to create a card with a somewhat vintage feel to it.

It all started with a piece of the corrugated card. I  grabbed a grey and a pink ink pad and dabbed them onto a silicon mat. Then I took my spritzer filled with water and spritzed the ink. Then dabbed the piece of paper into the wet ink. The technique is called smooshing and is a fun way to use water and colour to add a little something to a piece.

I kept the colour pallette soft inkeeping with the kit. The pattern paper was from an envelope that was leftover. Don't you just love a beautifully detailed envelope?
I stamped the rose in the soft grey ink onto a piece of paper that had a little ink smoshed on it in green, yellow and pink. Then fussy cut it out.

Fo you like torn edges? Gill dislikes it intensely 🫣 I like how it can add texture to a project 😊

Tips tricks and techniques Tuesday kit's collection

Happy 1st of August... and the start of the Kit's sale! If you'd like to have a look at the wide varity of kit's available just click Here. The kit I'm using today is called Colourful Kaleidoscope. It's  a very elegant kit that makes 9 beautiful cards.

This kit is what I call a stamping kit. It contains stamps, ink and an acrylic block which of course will allow you to creat far more than just the cards in the kit.

Yesterday I kept it simple today I'm stepping it up a little and using the kit to create new and interesting features. The fold is called an angled gatefold.

The card starts life as a piece of cardstock measuring 14.4cm x 29.7cm.You then score from both ends at 9.5cm in. Next mark at 4.5cm down from the top on both sides and 2.5cm across from the bottom on both sides. Now cut from the 2.5cm mark to the 4.5cm mark. Then cut from the 4.5cm mark across to the scoreline.  Repeat for the other side. Below is a cutting and scoring template that might explain it better 😉

To decorate the card I used the inside of one of the gorgeous envelopes and one of the beautiful intricate diecut layers. Firstly you need to cut yourself 2 layering mats in a contrasting coloured cardstock.  These measure 9cm x 14cm . To create the angled edges mark and cut as you did for the card base on one side of each mat. Cutting to the opposite top corner instead of the fold.

Next using the inside of the the envelope cut a panel that measures 8.5cm x 13.5cm. Decide which side this panel is going to be on, I chose the right hand side , and cut your panel accordingly.

For the other side cut a piece of white cardstock measuring 8.5cm x 13.5cm and cut the opposite to the pattern paper panel. Now take one of the beautiful diecut panels from the kit and gather a coordinating ink and a blending brush /tool. Place the diecut over the white cardstock and blend the ink through it. Be careful not to move the panels as you work and remember to start blending from off the side and work over on small circles. Work in layers. You can always add more but can't take it away 😉

Now just adhere you mats onto the front panels . Cut a white mat measuring 14cm x 10cm for the inside of the card and decorate as desired. Then adhere to the inside of the card.

To keep the card closed I chose to create a belly band.  I did this with a strip of the same colour cardstock as the card base measuring 2.5cm x 29.7cm and one from the contrasting coloured cardstock at 2cm x 29.7cm. I then adhered them together. Next I folded the strip around the closed card starting from the middle of the front making sure that it wasn't too tight as it will need to slip on and off.  I trimmed the end that crossed over allowing a good area to adhere them together. For the band decoration I fussy cut a start from  one of the gold foiled card fronts from the Kit's . I then adhered it to the band. Next I took one of the hexagonal gold foiled sentement panels from the kit and adhered that behind the star so that the gold edges were visible . A gold gem in the center and the sentiment and all was done.
