Advent calendar tutorial. ....

This tutorial is for the cute christmas countdown calendar or advent calendar.
I will be sharing the basic measurements and leaving it up to you how to decorate.
Oh and I must point out I made a boboo in the original discription the cubes are 7cm cubed not 7. 5 cm cubed!
Anyway here we go...
First make your cubes the are made using UK A4 card stock which is 21cm x 29, 8cm. Those in the US may need to adjust to fit your letter size or cut from a piece of 12" ×12" card!
So take a piece of card and score on the short side at 7cm and 14cm.  Rotate 45° and score at 7cm, 14cm, 2 1cm,  and 2 8cm.  Then mark at 5.5 cm and 16.5 cm on both  short ends. See below
In the next to photos I show where to cut . The cut lines are the solid red ones the fold lines are the dotted pencil ones. The red striped areas are what are removed when the cutting is completely. See below

the tabs are created by drawring from the 5.5 cm and 16.5 cm marks. I notch my corners to aid smoother closure. Apply adhesive to all tabs and fold to create the cube. Repeat for the second one.
Tip : on one cube use the numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and.  On the other use the numbers 1,2,7,8,9 and 0. This allowsyou to count up or down to 25!
Next the base : starting with a piece of card measuring 20.5 cm x 17.5 cm score on the long side at 12cm and 19.5 cm. Rotate 45° and score at 1cm and 16.5 cm . See below
Again the cut lines are marked in solid red. The cut out portions are in red stripes and measure 1cm x 4.5 cm. Fold the score lines once the cutting has been done and attatch adhesive to the places shown below and fold to create a shallow tray with a tall back. See below

Next take 2 7.5 cm x.  7.5cm squares of card and cut diagonally. Apply adhesive as shown and attatch to both the inside and outside to create slopping sides to the holder. You do have to Snip off the overhanging bits of card after they are stuck in place to create a neat finish.see below

To create the dividing insert cut a piece of card measuring 7.5 cm x 1cm.  Score at 7.5 cm , 8.5 cm and 9.5 cm. Fold the score lines and glue together to create e a divide see below

Place the device in the bottom of the holder. The cubes should ffit  nicely. I have made little wedges to place under the cubes so that they can be seen easily.  This is not necessary but if you wish to  cur 2 pieces of card stock measuring 7.5 cm x 1cm score at 7.5 cm and 8,5 cm then apply adhesive to the open ends and after creasing the folds close together this creates a wedge. I hope you have managed to follow this and are going on to create some cut calendars for yourselves.  If you do please share your creations with us here ☺
So that's all for now
Have fun
Cary ☺ x
