Watercolour Wednesday Vine Design

Today's card is a 2for1 kind of deal. I used a technique called Rock-n-Roll stamping with a water spritzer.  I used the large fern image from  the Vine Design stamp set as well as one ofbthe pretty flowers in the set.

First I used the Rock-n-Roll technique to ink up the fern stamp. You do this by first inking the whole stamp in one colour, I chose a light green. Then you take another darker colour, I used a dark green, and gently roll the ink pad around the outer edge of the stamp. By doing this you end up with a two tone effect on the stamp.

Usually you then stamp the image onto your cardstock. But as I wanted to create a more watercoloured effect I spritzed the stamp with water before stamping onto a lightly damp piece of watercolour paper.

I then gently respritzed the stamp with water and stamped it again onto a piece of watercolour paper...2 images for 1 inking!!

I love the way the colour spreads and mingles and how you get 2for1!!

I then used the same two techniques for the flowers. Then used the dies that coordinate with the stamps to cut them out.

A piece of coordinating card embossed with a lovely texture folder and the card was done bar the sentiment. I heat embossed the sentiment using white powder to keep up the bright look that I was looking for.

Tips Tricks and Techniques Tuesday Vine Design

Today's I'm sharing a project that was created once I applied one of my favourite  tips..... Embrace the mistake!

I wanted to use the cartouche stamp in the Vine Design stamp set. I had the idea in my head to repeatedly stamp the image at intervals to enhance the blended background I'd made.

As you can see in the picture about it is a simple outline but I thought it might look good embossed in gold in a tile fashion 😉 Well stamping in clear versamark ink on a blended background isn't the easiest thing to see so it wasn't until I'd poured the powder on that I saw my mistakes...... I'd gone a bit off track to say the least!!! 🤣

So I heated the embossing powder and then finished stamping but with the decision to see how it goes!

I then took my versamark ink pad and edged the piece in ink. I then dipped the inked edges in gold embossing powder to create subtle gold highlights to the edge of the piece.

Finally I stamped the cartouche and sentiment in gold embossing then fussy cut it out and placed it into one of the background spaces

A sprinkle of adhesive-backed sequins and I was done ✔

So the moral of the story is don't disgard a piece embrace the mistake and make it your own!!!!

Now #simplestamping is a great way to start your crafting journey. It uses minimal products and can be achieved by all regardless of experience or age just stamps,  ink and card.

Now I often use a #simplestamping card as a starting point for another card . I call this a stepped up version.  For this next card I  used the same inks and stamps but I used a few more techniques,  some coloured card and a crafters friend.... embellishments!!!

I used a small circle punch to create the notched corners. I used tone on tone stamping to create texture. And best of all I used the crafters best friend embellishments in the form of self adhesive sequins to create a little something extra 😊

Now I have a question for you what would be your top 5 products for anyone new to the world of card making?

Mine would be 3d foam , a small cirlce punch,  a good pair of scissors,  a good trimmer and a selection of bling!! Rhinestones, pearls , sequins.. all are great at covering those little mistakes and adding that little je ne sais quoi !!!

Make it simple Monday Vine Design

Monday's are all about keeping it simple. And today's card shows how a stamp set such as this one called Vine Design can keep it simple easily!

Vine design stampin up simple stamping easy thinking of you card

#simplestamping is something we try to do to show that not every card must use lots of products or have shed loads of skills and techniques to make it beautiful. It is also about making sure that stamping and card making is acheveivable by any one whether new to paper crafting or not. It's also great to get back to basics sometimes for those of us who have been stamping a while.

The first card uses just ink , stamp and card. I like to show how stamping doesn't have to be complicated and is easily achieved.

Now #simplestamping can also be the starting point for other cards. The card below is what I call a stepped up version. It uses the same stamps and inks but includes coloured cardstock and something that everu crafter needs regardless of experience... bling!!!!

For this card I used minimal suplies. A small circle punch was used  to create the  notched corners. And I embellished it with some self adhesive sequins to add a little something.

Now I have a question for you. What would you advise someone to get who is just starting their stamping journey? Me I'd  tell them a good pair of scissors, a good trimmer, 3d foam and double sided tape, and some bling because it was invented to cover those little mistakes 😉
