Watercolour Wednesday Framed Florets

 We made it! Vienna is just amazing 😃 Renound for it's architecture I've been inspired to create a background that looks a little like verdigris using a dry watercolour technique . Of course the framed florets dies had to be used. Their elegance definitely reflects the elgance of Viennese architecture. 

So to start I used a soft green coloured piece of cardstock called soft succulent and used an embossing folder to give it some texture. Next I took some white ink reinker and dropped it onto an acrylic block. I  added a drop of water. I then took a piece of sponge and spritzed it lightly with water. 

Now the fun begins I dabbed the damp sponge into the white ink and lightly swipped it all over the embossed cardstock . Be gentle and remember you can always add more but can't take it away!

The take the same colour ink pad as the cardstock,  soft succulent,  and dab a clean acrylic block onto the pad. Then using another sponge, or the other side of the same one , spritz it lightly with water. Dab it into the ink. Then gently pounce the sponge over the cardstock. 

Now it's time to use a dark green called evening evergreen in exactly  the same way 

 

Continue to use the light and dark green and white to build up the patina.  Once your happy set it aside to dry . Although you are using very little water the cardstock has had a lot of ink and water applied to  it after all.

Now it's time to think about how to decorate the gorgeous background. 

I stamped some of the flowers and  heat embossed them in gold embossing powder. I then used my wink of stella as a brush to colour the flowers using an ink pad. All you have to do is pat an acrylic block onto an ink pad, I used a pretty peachy orange called pale papaya. You then pick the colour up from the block using the brush and watercolour the flowers . They sparkle beautifully. 

Once the flowers were coloured and die cut I die cut another frame. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment using gold embossing powder. I adhered the flowers to the frame and then used 3d foam to adhere the frame to the centre panel. 

 

Once the front was completed I stamped, coloured and die cut a swag then adhered it to a basic white cardstock mat and adhered it to the inside of the card. 

I was very happy with how this elegant card turned out. The colours are soft and gentle but a little different from the traditional Christmas colour palette.
