Something old , something new....

Not all iris folding is done in the spiral. ..Today's sample was created using just fanned out strips.
I love the black, white and a pop of colour combination. And as my go to pop of colour at the moment is the vibrant hot pink from Stampin ' Up!  called melon mambo I have made what I think is a rather striking contemporary card using a classic theme that of butterflies.

Whatever the weather. ....

Today's sample is perhaps a little autumnal. ..here in the UK it should be summer but sadly more like a wet autumn! So perhaps that's why I was inspired to create this card! Lol
Does the weather inspire you? Do you find it easier to use bright bold colours in summer? Or crisp blues and warm reds in winter?

Over the sea....

Another example of iris folding today 😊
I have to say that the new 3d foam strips from Stampin ' Up!  Certainly make the job of applying the appature to the card base easier!
Because they are thicker than the usual 3d dimentionals you don't ñeed to build up stacks of sticky foam!
I think the papers make for a sea for the little boat to float into...or am I just imagining  it??

An oldie..but goodie!!

Well I hope you had a good weekend and are ready for this week's inspiration!
This week is all about iris folding!
Iris folding is the art of using narrow strips of paper to fill in an appature usually in a spiral fashion.
Today's project shows how even the simplest of shapes can be used!

All Day Class Projects

The last few projects this week were additional samples for the class.
Unfortunately, if we gave everyone ALL of the projects that we make, they would have to take up residence in the hall! I say unfortunately because the hall is in the Cemetry!
For this next card I used the Swirly Scribbles Framelets
and the Pop of Pink DSP with a doily to separate them.

The following is another one sheet wonder card.
Stamped with several images, cut into rectangles and mounted them onto mats with the Dapper Denim then matched the images back together.
I love the way it adds height to the project whenever I do or see this idea.

Last but not least....Cary standing over, watching and helping with one of the projects.
Do you like the Pink hair to match the DSP?

All day Class Projects.

Today's cards I have used the Flamingo twice. I thought that they could be used as Engagements, Wedding or Anniversary cards.

For the first card, I have used 2 pieces from the Pop Of  Pink DSP. Both cut at an angle with Bermuda Bay Thick Baker's Twine wrapped around. Circles from the Layering Circles framelits and stamped and Heat embossed flamingos from Pop of Paradise stamp set.
The Congrats, is from the Sunshine Wishes framelits. I love them!

The second card, I was still in the double flamingo mind.
This time I cut the legs from one and added it underneath to make it look like it is nesting.
This oneI have made for friends who are about to have their first baby.
Again, I heat embossed the leaves in gold and used the DSP as background.

I will be back again tomorrow with some more of the projects from the all day class.
Thank you,
Gill

All day Class Projects.
Today is another of Cary's projects.
The natural colour to use with Pop of Pink and Pop Of Paradise stamp set is obviously pinks.
We decided to push ourselves and use other colours to show that you can work outside the box.
This amazing card, Cary assures me is called a TILT card.
Made from 1 sheet of A4 and folded into rectangles and on one set of the diagonals. A one sheet wonder which is stamped and heat embossed in gold cut to fit and a doily, message and flamingo, completes this project.

Great isn't it?

All Day Class projects

All Day Class projects.

Following on from yesterday, here are some more of the class projects.

My first reaction when I saw the picture of this I thought it was a box!
I was puzzled why Cary had made 'another' box when she had made the notelet cards and box as shown yesterday.
IT IS NOT A BOX! Cary assured me.
She was of course correct.
It is a 4 sided card. I have never seen one of these before and the result that everyone made was perfect. Cary has heat embossed in gold over 3 sides and a Whisper White panel for the message on the last panel.
Some of the ladies copied Cary's card and other went 'off piste' and changed the Mint Macaron to Melon Mambo, Dapper Denim and Whisper White. Others then used some of their Pop of Pink DSP

This is the picture taken as they all started to look into their goody bags to see what they had.
Cary went Pineapple and Flamingo mad by making bottle holders with flamingos.
Curvy Keepsake boxes with pineapple tops and even hanging decorations over the door!

Lots of fun was had by all I am pleased to say.
I hope that you can pop by tomorrow and see some more projects.

OOOOPS!!

I had an OOOOPS! Moment!

to coin a phrase from a tv advert.
My apologies, as I forgot to post this weekend.
In truth, Cary and I held an all day class on Saturday just gone and we have both been so busy in designing and preparing that I forgot to post!
So, I am cheating by showing some of the projects our ladies have made.
The box was made from 1 sheet of A4 cardstock and some DSP with a hand made tassel to finish.
This class was designed by Cary and it looks brilliant.

The cards were made using Notelets and Envelopes. 2 of each of the 5 designs.
The decorations were using Pop of Pink Washi Tape, Pop of Paradise and
Pop of Pink Speciality Designer Series Paper.

I hope you'll agree with me that they are really lovely.
Well done Cary.
For our all day classes, everyone gets lots and lots of Stampin' Up! products
This class they had the stamp set, washi tape, DSP, cardstock and loads more besides.
Please pop by tomorrow and see what other lovely projects were made.
Thank you, Gill

From one extreme to another....

Yesterday's inspiration was a large square so today I thought I'd go small! This card is just 10am x 10am!  And the sentiment was is apt ! 😊

When things are not what they seem? ? ?

Today's sample was inspired by a sample I found on the Internet unfortunately I could find no link to the original 😕 I do think it's such a shame when you can't give credit where it's due don't you?
So to the unknown original designer thank you for sharing your talent 😊
Who knew a swing could become a sofa? Or that cushions could become carpet? That's why I love stamping the options are limitless 😊

Clean and simple. ...

Today's sample is clean and simple 😊 it's using the same stamp set, Sitting Here. I've used one of the cushion images and a strong but clean colour combo and lay out to create what I think is quite a striking card. The nice thing with this style is not only that they are easy and quick to replicate but that they are economical to make to so excellent for make and takes etc 😉

Peace and tranquillity. ..

Well I hope you've had a lovely weekend relaxing and maybe taking time to just sit and rest awhile...
This weeks inspiration features a stamp set from Stampin ' Up! called Sitting Here. It has  very calm peaceful images that just cry out to be watercoloured.
I'm not a cat person by nature but this card cried out for the cat to be nestled on the swing.

Just the one...

Today's the last day of Bermuda Bay week so I went all out Bermuda Bay! ! 😉
This sample has been made using just the one ink pad but show how second and third generation stamping works.
I hope you've enjoyed this week's inspiration and will join us next week ☺
Have a great weekend
Have fun
Cary ☺ x

Thursday 9 June 2016

Bright and breezily. ..

Now this sample is just plain fun! In my opinion 😉
Bermuda Bay sits in the Brights family of Stampin ' Up! Core colour range and when mixed with other colours from the same family it just buzzes!

Wednesday 8 June 2016

Forever blowing bubbles. ...

Bermuda Bay fits in so well with other shades of blue don't you think?
I love making backgrounds and this one reminds me of bubbles! Lol

Tuesday 7 June 2016

Is less more???

Sometimes less is more!
Well in this case I think it is!
I think that the small band of colour really pops because the colour isn't over used.
This sample is inspired by a card I saw that really stuck in my minds eye, sadly I can't give the original card credit because I can't remember where I saw it originally!
But if it's you please say so because you deserve credit 😊

Monday 6 June 2016

Is it blue? Or is it green?

How was your weekend?
Mine was busy busy busy and the sun finally shone on Sunday!
This weeks inspiration features the gorgeous  Bermuda Bay colour from Stampin ' Up!
My question to you though is Bermuda Bay a green or is it a blue????
This card features not only Bermuda Bay cardstock, and ink but also Bermuda Bay designer series paper!
The card also uses a new stamp set called Thankful Thoughts and the new layering square framelits dies.
Have fun
Cary ☺ xx

Stampin stars 2016/17 annual catalogue blog hop

Have you seen it yet? ?
The new Stampin'Up annual catalogue. ..boy is it a wowzer! ,
To celebrate we are taking part in a blog hop ! If you've arrived here via Fiona's fantastic post you'll know what I mean 😉 if not here's  the link to her post http://oakfieldcrafts.blogspot.co.uk
One of the bonuses of being a Stampin Up demonstrator is that you get the chance to attend not one but two national train events each year.
At the April event in Telford I was lucky enough to recieve  a few sneek peek products from the annual catalogue 😉  one of which I am going to share some samples with today! And here it is.....One of the cute stamps in the whole catalogue. ...
Called Baby Bear this 3 step stamping set is just soooo adorable!  Available in  photopolymer this set is a breeze to create with and the results are so photo realistic!
Here are my samples made using the Baby Bear set
In the first sample I kept it really simple and loved it so much I've stepped it up a little .

Here's a close up of the bear I stamped the first layer in Sahara sand,  the second in  crumb cake and the third in soft suede inks.
Then just for fun I went all out...fussy cutting, scoring, layering and lots of basic pearls!

Well I hope you've enjoyed this post . Please hop over to see what the lovely  Mandy has created 😊. Here's the link http://stampwithpaperpanda.blogspot.co.uk
Have a great weekend and have fun

Playful Palette

Washi Tape Crazy!
Instead of stamp sets, I thought that I'd use the Playful Palette Washi Tapes
There are 5 gorgeous designs in the pack for only £7.25 and there is loads on each reel!

I used the Bow Builder Punch today for all the lovely Bows.
It's an amazing punch, one that I wonder how I ever managed before.

The addition of a message from Birthday Blooms and a few Rhinestones just to bling it up.
A very simple card today just to show that you don't have to use lots of stamps
or other products to make a card.

That's it from me for another week.
Please pop in next week to see what Cary's projects will be.
Thank you .

Enjoy The Little Things
Today I have used some more of Playful Backgrounds.

A very straighforward card using 3 of the stamps and a simple message from Layering Love.

A piece of the gorgeous new Emerald Envy Ruched Ribbon,
a little Bow paper clip and Rhinestone in the centre of the Bow to finish the project off.

Well, hopefully you will have had time to look at the NEW Inspirations Book
and see the amazing new products, papers, stamp sets etc.
Please contact Cary or Gill (2 Big Girls Crafting) if you have any questions.
Thank you.
