This or That Thursday it's a Science

Here in Vegas the colours are bright , bold and blingey so my cards for today had to have a little of that Vegas drama!!! I have made the same card but in 2 different colours using the fun It's a Science stamps .

My first card was made using my favourite sparkley pink cardstock.  Called Soft shimmer speciality paper it comes in a fab range of colours including 2 shades of pink!

Now because I wanted to create cards that reflect the bright lights of Las Vegas I chose the bright pink for my first version.

I paired the shimmer paper with a beautiful piece of paper from the absolutely stunning Stargazing patterned paper . This pattern paper is an all time favourite of mine I have to admit.

My next colour choice was the oh so elegant navy shimmer.  It combines so beautifully with the papers and the bright blue of the cardstock I chose to use.

I used silver embossing powder for all my images and sentiments for these cards both inside and on the front of the cards. I think it adds a great touch to the cards.

So which do you prefer? The pink version?  Or the blue? I  started with the pink but changed to the blue  after I'd made it 🤣 oh dear decisions decision!

Watercolour Wednesday It's a Science

A super quick watercolour background and a great way to add lots of texture for today's card using the It's a Science stamp set.

It all starts with a piece of basic whote cardstock,  some water based inks and a waterpainter. This is what I like to call a dry watercolour technique. Basically all you do is squish some ink into the lid of the ink pad then add a drop or two of water from your waterpainter into it. Next take your damp waterpainter pick up a little ink and swip it across your cardstock.

I chose to work in stripes and light turquoise, lemon yellow and a bold hot pink colour palette. The stripes are not perfect and that's perfectly fine . I was going for a relaxed look.

I then stamped and fussy cut out the beakers from white cardstock  and adhered them directly onto my background piece. Then I took a fun 3d embossing folder and embossed the panel. I love how this cteated a unified lookbto the panel.

As I had a few beakers left over I used them on a circle and coloured them in using my waterpainter and ink again. Added a sentiment and the front was done.
I stamped and coloured some bubbles onto a piece of white cardstock for the inside of the card.

A fun and easy way to use watercolour for thise of us who are not blessed with artistic skills! 😉 and those in search of a quick way to create unique backgrounds. I do hope you'll give it a go and have fun doing it!  😊

Tips tricks and techniques Tuesday It's a Science

Today's card features a soft pastels technique I shared a wee while ago. When I created the background piece I knew I wanted to use it with the It's a Science stamp set!! So here it is...

The background piece was larger than I needed for the front of the card . So I took the timmed of pieces and used one of them to decorate the inside of the card.

Here's  the video of me making the background and several other techniques using soft pastels. This background is at about 25 minute mark .

I hope that both the video and card  nspire you to have a go yourself .

Have fun  and look out on  our Facebook page for some pictures from my Vegas trip

Make it simple Monday It's a Science

Hello from sunny Las Vegas 😎 all this wekk I'll be posting from Vegas using a stamp set called It's A Science.  This set is something a little different and certainly one that is a first for me just like Las Vegas!! So like all new things it's often wise to just dip your toe in first... like the gorgeous pool at the fantastic Red Rock hotel where I stayed for the Stampin' Up! Backstage event!

Now the stamp set was so easy to create a #simplestamping borthday card with. The stamps do all the work for you!

For this #makeitsimplemonday card I have used just a basic white A6 card base and stamped using a black ink pad the images and sentiment. I then used my colouring pencils to add colour... simples!

I think this set will be great for all ages and genders. It's  a great change from the usual stamps. And great fun to play with.
So if you'd like to see more cards made with this set pop by tomorrow to see what I've created.

Fun Fold Friday - Backgrounds - Two-Tone Flora

Hello and thank you for joining me once again. This week I have been making backgrounds. Some are made using the whole, 1 piece stamp but for today's card I literally made a background of my own. I used the Two-Tone Flora stamp set and taking a whole sheet of A4 white card, I stamped each and every single stamp in a different colour, randomly all over the piece of A4.

I then cut the whole sheet into 4 pieces measuring 10cm by 14.4cm or 4" by 5,5/8"  I cut a piece of Berry Burst card in half as a book fold card base. I scored diagonally on the one side on my trimmer and burnished it well. I cut another single piece of card 10.5cm by 14.85cm or 4,1/8" by 5,7/8" and attached it to the outer folded side of the card base. It has now become an easel card.  This is slightly different in as much as the card is to be folded in half to close and post it as a C6 card. I used sentiments from 2 other stamp sets, these were Phrases For All and GoTo Greetings.

I was so pleased with it I made another but this one faces the other way and now both cards face each other.

Well that is it from me once agin for this week.  Cary has flown off to the USA, Vegas for a Stampin' Up! leaders meeting but fortunately made her cards in advance of going away. She will be letting you see her projects throughout the week as usual.

I will be back the week after next so as always, take care, stay safe but most of all.....

KEEP ON CRAFTING!

This or That Thursday - Backgrounds - It's In The Stars

Hello, thank you for stopping by. Today for my first card, I stamped the image from It's in the Stars using Versamark Ink pad onto a piece of A5 white card. Once done, I turned the card around and then repeated it across the other side of the card. I poured White Embossing Powder across the whole sheet and then heat set it. Using a Blending Brush I coloured the white card using Starry Sky ink. I didn't want it too dark so was very careful how I applied it. Once complete, I used a tissue to rub over the stars well to make them shine. Using the In The Moment stamp set, I stamped one of the images and coloured it using my blends pens. Then I did as I always like to do and fussy cut it all out. I stamped and added some sentiments and completed the THIS card.

THIS AND THAT

THAT

My next card is using the other half of the blue sky and stars. This time I have die cut some of the Cheerful Daisies and pieced them altogether. I added a few of the fine leaves behind them, some sentiments later and the THAT card is complete too.

Watercolour Wednesday - Backgrounds - Rays of Light

Hello again. Firstly, I must apologise for the lack of a project for yesterday. Unfortunately, life just got in the way! I'm very sorry. However, today's project is another background stamp that I have wanted to use for a while but have never gotten around to it. I started by spritzing a piece of Fluid  watercolour paper with lots of water. Using an H block, I inked it up with first of all a beautiful very soft pink called Bubble Bath. I spritzed that with water too and added it across the centre of the piece of watercolour paper. I repeated this process with the fresh lemon of Lemon Lolly, above and below of the pink and then the blueish green of Lost Lagoon above and below of the lemon. I tilted the card quite a bit to blend the colours well and got the lovely misty lines. Then using the Rays of Light stamp, I inked it with Versamark and then some Lemon Lolly and placed it over the now dry mat.

I heat set it and repeated it with Clear embossing powder as well which was sprinkled over the Versamark and Lemon Lolly. I heat set that and stamped a flower from the Everlasting Beauty stamp set. I watercoloured the flower using ink from a block and a waterbrush. I adhered the watercolour paper to a Lost Lagoon mat and then onto a Basic White card base.

Make It Simple Monday - Backgrounds - Berry Harvest

Hello, I hope that you have all had a great week? I love the little truck that Cary used for last week, don't you? This week, I am going to make different projects using some of the Background stamps and dies. Today's card is using the beautiful, Berry Harvest stamp. This single stamp has loads of berries all over it and I stamped the image using the very light grey of Smoky Slate Ink Pad. I chose this colour as it's much lighter than black and easier to colour over. All I did was colour in the one stem or branch to highlight. Once again it was coloured in using some very cheap pencils. They are not as good as Stampin' Up!s Watercolour pencils but it is actually a very simple card that anyone can make. It's a very easy card to do too.

Fun fold Friday Trucking Along

Welcome to my final card for this week of Trucking Along inspiration.  As it's  a Friday it has to be a fun fold but today's is a super simple one! The fold is what I'm  calling a Extra Easy Easel and is one that I saw a fellow crafter called Pauline Barnfather make and just thought wow thats fab!

The card starts with a piece of cardstock measuring 14.85cm x 29.7cm that is scored at 10cm, 14.85cm and 19.7cm. The finished card will fit in a standard C6 envelope.

You then use a bone folder to reinforce the score lines with the first as a valley,  the second as a mountain and the third as a valley.  This creates a W shape when the card is stood on end.

Next add adhesive to the panel as shown in the picture below.

Fold the card base so that the left-hand large panel covers the adhesive.  This creates the extra easy easel card base.

I have decorated my sample with some of the amazing pattern paper from a pack called One horse open sleigh. It's filled with patterns and scenes that evoke a winter  journey. The papers are 6" x 6' (15.2cm x 15.2cm) so I used just one sheet to decorate the card!

I stamped the uber cute truck in a feative red and added the  Christmas tree to create a fun Christmas card.

On the bottom panel of the card I added a mat of white cardstock and adhered a layer of pattern paper along one edge. I then stamped some of the parcels along the edge. This is where I would write my greetings.

The stamp set is so useful for all year round with it's combination of all season images and sentiments. It's certainly one that will be making regular appearances on my cards all year long!
The other top thing with this card is that it folds flat for postage 😀

So that's all from me this week. Next week Gill will be sharing with us here and I'll be jetting of to Las Vegas for a Stampin' Up! Event and a cheeky holiday 😜

As ever have a wonderful weekend whatever your doing remember

Have Fun!
