Colour - Day 5 - Reds

This last card for this week I have made with Merry Merlot. This is the new Neutral red from Stampin' Up! and although I wasn't keen at first, it really has grown on me to the extent that yes, I class it amongst my favourite colours! How's that for a change around?

I decided to get away from Christmas as there are lots of other occasions that need cards.
This card is, I guess, a card of support or encouragement.
I used the stamp set It Starts With Art. it covers all sorts of crafting from card making,
colouring, sewing etc, etc. It's great.
More information HERE

I love a little sparkle so I used the Sparkle Glimmer card on this one.
I embossed the White mat on the front with the Button, Button embossing folder and have used
a Merry Merlot Stampin' Write Marker pen to edge the message on the front. The message and the pens were die cut using the Arts and Crafts Dies.

A simple message of Follow Your Art on the base to hold the front of the easel up....
and another message inside to complete this card.

Thank you for joining me this week. We are away in Germany this week with hundreds of
other Stampin' Up! demonstrators at our 6 monthly get together.
I've never been to Germany, so I'm really looking forward to it.
Have a really great week and I hope I have managed to give you an
idea or 2 to make some cards of your own.
Cary will be back and posting next week, so please pop by and see what
amazing creations she has made for you.
Thank you again, Gill :)

Colour - Day 4 - Reds

Today I used the most gorgeous, rich and sumptuous colour called Blackberry Bliss.
It's unctious! If there is such a word?!?!
Anyway, I love it!

I have used the lovely designer series papers DSP called Perennial Essence.
I tied this in using the Daisy Lane stamp set.
More information on the stamps HERE
More information on the DSP HERE

This is a very simple card (I know that I always say that but it really is), cut out of an 8" by 8"
piece of card, which was folded in a few directions and cut once.

I used a few circle punches to balance the daisy onto and the small Daisy punch for the daisies.
The message was also from the Daisy Lane stamp set, which finishes off the card for today.

Colour - Day 3 - Reds

Hello, for today's colour I chose to go Festive. It's coming closer to Christmas and we have so many
Christmas based classes on, that it's difficult to get away from it.
I have used my favourite fun stamp set for this season called #Elfie. He's gorgeous!
For more information on #Elfie HERE

This time I have used my most favourite shade of red. It's Real Red of course.
I decided to use a frame from the Frosted Frames dies. I die cut it in Whisper White card then added a little Tombow wet glue before sprinkling the NEW Ice Stampin' Glitter over it. I used the foam strips to fix it to the Sparkle Glimmer card that I used for the front mat.
More details on the dies HERE

I stamped an 2 of the elves out, the red one on the post and the red one hanging from the frame. Then using the Stamparatus, I stamped the reverse image then coloured them all in with Blends pens.
I love the crisp colour you get with the Blends.

A simple message added to the front...

then another lovely message to the inside along with a little NO Peeking elf to complete this one.

Colour - Day 2 - Reds

Today's shade of red is the gorgeous Cherry Cobbler. A lovely rich deep red that's ideal for use on any theme of cards.
On this card I have used the beautiful Dandelion Wishes stamps. I stamped in Versamark, then pored Silver embossing powder, After removing the excess powder, I heat set it. I just love to watch the heat embossing process going from cold to hot and set. Its amazing!
For more information on the Dandelion Wishes stamp set, please click HERE

Unfortunately, my camera and my photography ability doesn't do the colour any justice.
The card in this picture looks very bright but it really isn't.

I started with a Whisper White mat and used the Cherry Cobbler mats on top. It shows off the silver heat embossing perfectly.

A simple message onto another Cherry Cobbler mat and Whisper White backing, mounted with Dimensionals....

Then another message on the inside and a few of the dandelion seed heads were
heat embossed in silver again, that finishes this one off.

Weekly Inspiration - Colour

 Colour - Reds

This week I have been working with the colour red. I am supposed to choose a colour to work with but I just love RED!
So, I've worked on several different shades of red, here's the first.
This first card is with Rococo Rose, it's a really lovely shade of dark pink.

A straightforward card once again with the Whisper White mat stamped all over in
Rococo Rose Ink pad. I used 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation of the images. Just by 'huffing' onto the stamp once you've initially used it, it re-activates the remaining ink.
I used the lovely stamp set Floral Essence. It has several shaped flowers and leaves as
well as some lovely messages.
For more information, click HERE
I have posted the link to the whole suite of Floral Essence. If you click on the link, you will see
all of the products in the Floral Essence range.

I had a spare 2,1/4" circle punched out and used it to mount the top flower onto.
'Huffing' is a term that 2BGC use to breathe slowly over the inked stamp to
reactivate the ink left on the stamp!

So Many Stars..

Well today's the last day for this week's  inspiration using the So Many Stars  stamp set from Stampin Up.
So I thought I'd  use one of the sentiments in the set to inform the design of the card. I chose the lovely  O, Holly Night sentiment. It fits the set so well and has a more tradition feel to it.
I wanted to create  a clean and simple card that had a touch of luxury to  it. So gold and silver ink and gold foul were the obvious  choice.  But I wanted more...so out came the Tufted 3D embossing folder from Stampin Up.  This little beauty always makes me think of deep buttoned backed upholstery chairs...rich and a little bit extravagant but always elegant and timeless....such a lot for an embossing powder!! 😁
Any way  I hope you've enjoyed this weeks selection and that you've found some inspiration to take to your own crafting.
Next week Gill will be sharing her creations with us so be sure to pop by and be inspired.
Have fun
Cary xx

So Many Stars...

How do you choose what colours to use in a project?  Sometimes it seems to come almost automatically, you get your supplies out and you know. Other times the colours are dictated by your choice of pattern paper. Or it might be that its really obvious. But what do you do when you've no idea? Well that was the situation I was in when I started todays sample! I  knew what I wanted to use and I  had an idea in my head about how I wanted it to look but no colour palette at all!! So I turned to my tried and tested fail safe.....I asked my son!!! 😂😂😂 He picked purple and fortunately for me Stampin Up  have a lovely selection of colours in the purple range so I used them all!! Purple also happens to be his favourite colour 😉
How do you decide on a colour palette for your projects?

So Many Stars...

So yesterday I  shared a card that was clean and simple and used the stamps and dies from the So Many Stars  bundle from the 2019 autumn winter catalogue from Stampin Up. Well today I'm sharing a sample that uses just the stamps to show that stars are easy to cut out by hand if you don't  have a die cutting machine.
I've  also gone for a contemporary colour way and a more modern feel as the font that the sentiment uses has the contemporary feel too.
The colours I've used are called Flirty Flamingo and Costal Cabana.  The card would work equally well in so many colour ways including the more traditional red and green.

So Many Stars...

Now as well as the stamps in the So Many Stars  set from Stampin Up they have a coordinating die set called Stitched Stars Dies. The set has 23 dies and can be brought as a bundle with the So Many  Stars stamp set at a discounted price!!!
Now the lovely thing about these dies is that they have a gorgeous  stitched edge that add a very elegant touch to a simple card. For my sample I have used the Delicata  Golden Glitz  ink to pick out the gold in the oh so yummy Perfectly Plaid paper.
This sample is one that you could mass produce with ease but still has the classy look that a clean and simple card can bring.

So Many Stars..

This week is all about the stars..So Many Stars ...yup that's the name of the stamp set that I'm  going to be featuring this week in my projects!! It's a beautiful  set that has not only beautiful images but also some fabulous sentiments.  All in all a great Christmas stamp set 😁.
So for today's card I used one of my favourite techniques... the resist technique.  It's  a simple idea heat emboss your image in white on white card then apply coloured ink over the top. Buff the images and voila !
I then heat embossed the sentiment onto vellum and kept it simple.
What's your favourite technique? Or do you have one you'd like us to try for you?

Stampaversary!

   On the 7th October 2019

Cary and Gill celebrated 10 years working together

as 2 Big Girls Crafting!

WOW!!! Where has the time gone?
We NEVER anticipated that we would be still making cards and holding classes together this long!
We have truly had a blast though. We have made so many new friends and had loads of laughter and sadly many tears too but its been an amazing time.
We would like to say thank you to everyone for your contribution in making our time together so
worthwhile. It has been a huge roller coaster of fun and we couldn't have done it without all of you
but of course, Stampin' Up!
Being introduced to the amazing products, the quality, the style, keeping up with the modern trends and colours has made our life so much easier.
Gone are the days when we made a card, a project or whatever, have we had to trawl around so many
different stores to find ribbons, buttons, gems, embellishments, papers and card etc. etc. etc.
EVERYTHING  in Stampin' Up! coordinates with everything. Perfection.
Here are some pictures from events over the years and our celebratory balloons from our team leader Natalie O'Shea.
