Lakeside retreat hexagonal pinwheel father's day card

 Have you ever wished that you could recieve a  box of crafting goodness regularly from Stampin' Up!? Well you can now! Today's inspiration is an alternative idea made using only a few pieces of extra cardstock. Everything else is found in the amazing Lakeside retreat refill kit.

I was inspired by a card created by fellow demonstrator Jacque Williams from New Zealand 🇳🇿.  The measurements for my version will fit using the card bases in the Paper Pumpkin kit but of course you could use any pattern papers you like.

Called an Hexagonal Pinwheel this fold is a real wow! It's also really easy to achieve.

Being a hexagonal card it offer  6 "pages" for you to decorate and would make a fun mini scrapbook album / brag book. It would also work well for a card where lots of people can leave a message.

I have used pool party cardstock for the base and all the stamping is done in misty moonlight ink.

I cut up one of each of the card bases from the kit as well as one of the envelopes to decorate this card. But remember to save the scraps for other projects waste not want not after all 😉.

To create the shading around my embellishment pieces I used a pencil and gently outlined the pieces. This adds a surprising amount of subtle depth that really makes them pop on the page.

I chose to add a white panel for my personal message but you could always use other papers.

The kit contains die cut labels and what I call dodads (images) so of course I had to use them too! No I don't recommend adding dimension or raised embellishments to this project as when folded it will be quite thick already. 

The finished card will need a square envelope such as a 15.2cm x 15.2cm or 6" x 6" one. The card does lay flat for posting. 

The measurements for this card start with a piece of cardstock measuring 14cm x 13cm scored at 2cm, 4cm, 6cm, 8cm, 10cm and 12 cm along the 13cm side ( 5½" x 5" scored at ¾", 1½", 2¼", 3", 3¾" and 4½" along the 5" side)

Then you'll need 6 piece each measuring 14cm x 6cm ( 5½" x 2⅜")

The decorative panels you'll need are 5 pattern pieces each measuring 13.9cm x 5.5cm ( 5¼" x 2⅛"). A piece of white measuring 13.9cm x 5.5cm ( 5¼" x 2⅛") 

You'll also need 6 pattern pieces measuring 13.9cm x 3.5cm ( 5¼" x 1⅜")
