Fun Fold Friday - Ornate Garden Suite

 It's that time of the week that I hope to show you a brilliant card fold idea.  The basic shape today is a Gate Fold style of card which I'm sure that many of you already know. Mine has a twist. I have added 3 panels to the front. Sounds simple enough? Well, yes it is. I do love a card that looks difficult but in fact it isn't. Here is the card..... and yes, it even fits in a standard C6 envelope too. Here you can see the card is closed making it look like a stard shaped card

 

Below, here it is partially open. The panels are actually fixed apart. 1 on the centre left and 2 on the right, top and bottom. As I placed an oval across the centre of the card, the panels on the right slide into each other creating a closure.

 

I used Whisper White Thick Card for the card base, Bumblebee card for the yellow mats and pieces of double sided paper to decorate my card. I added an oval of Gold foiled paper between the Bumblebee and the White ovals. The flower, I fussy cut from one of the pieces of double sided papers from the Ornate Garden Suite. Yes, many of them have gold images on as well as Bumblebee, Old Olive,Early Espresso, Mint Macaron, Terracotta Tile and Whisper White. So there's lots of colours to choose from.

Here it is as an aerial view. You can see where the card folds open and back then on top of the front panels you can see where I placed the 3 rectangular panels.

 

Below is the whole card opened so you can see exactly the placement of my panels on the card.

 

Here is the layout of the card. I cut a piece of A4 card along the full length  which in the UK is 29.7cm by 14.85cm or Imperial measurements are 11, 3/4" by 5, 7/8" You will then score as I have written below. 4.85cm and 9.9cm from each end. The first of the 2 measurements needs to be a light score as when you fold the card at 9.9cm you can then fold the end of the card into that fold. Thereby getting the exact placement of the 2 end panels. Make sure that the score lines are then all crisply folded.  

The panels measurements are .... 3 pieces of White 4.85cm by 9.9cm. These can be cut from the piece you cut off from making the card base. If you lay the 3 White pieces on top of the card, they should completely cover the front exactly, that way you should find that they all fit the whole of the front of the card properly.

3 pieces of alternative card 4.6cm by 9.5cm and 3 pieces of patterned paper are 4.2cm by 9.2cm. 

The inside centre mat is 14.4 by 9.5cm. 

I added 3 squares of Bumblebee which were 4.8cm by 4.8cm. Not essential but I think it helps to finish the card off. Personal choice of course.

If you bought the items individually it will cost more than the suite price of £127.75 . Buying the suite saves you 10% on each of the 2 stamp set and die bundles.

Throwback Thursday - Ornate Garden Suite

 Have you ever had one of those cards that you have seen made but never had the courage to make one? I did. Surprisingly, when I did first attempt it, I was so shocked at how simple it actually was! What a whally I was! The card was eventually made a very long while ago by me and for the life of me I cannot remember who's card first caught my eye but there have been too many to mention since then.  I found another of the cards that I made in this style a few weeks ago when I was looking for another project. 

Get on with it! I can hear someone saying. I used the gorgeous deep dark purplish/red of Blackberry Bliss card for the base colour. It is such a lovely rich colour that blends with so many other colours. I just love it! A white mat which I embossed with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder and before attaching it to the card base, I added some folded rectangles of the Ornate Garden double sided papers to each end. I love the gold pattern within the green of this paper. I die cut one of the stems of flowers from Blackberry Bliss and using the black Dimensionals/foam pads, I raised it up over the 2 diamond shaped corners.

A few messages on the front and inside of course with a small spray of flowers completed the card. For a change, I also added some of the lovely frosted epoxy droplets onto the flowers. I don't normally add any bling or rhinestones to my projects until I prepare to post the card to the recipient. This time, I just wanted to!

The messages in this set of stamps are brilliant. You can add several of them to any card and they look just perfect.

Watercolour Wednesday - Ornate Garden Suite

 For today's card, obviously watercoloured, I did a technique that I often do. I added some colours using the ends of the ink pads onto a large acrylic block. I used 5 different colours from pinks , lilac and greens. I spritzed a piece of watercolour paper with water and then spritzed the block and immediately the colours started to mix together. Wasting no further time, I wiped the block over the paper and allowed the ink to be absorbed and left it to dry.

Once it had dried I took the 2 words SO GRATEFUL and THANK YOU and stamped them quite closely to each other then cut them closer still. You can see how the colours have blended and given me such different shades on them all. I took a white mat and embossed it with the Argyle embossing folder from Stampin' Up! I decided to add dimensionals (foam pads) to the backs of the words and added a few of the small flowers from Ornate Thanks stamp set. I added a few more of the messages to the inside from the set and an other THANK YOU to complete it.
A very simple card that didn't take a lot of work but I am pleased with the result. I hope you like it too.

Make It Simple Monday - Ornate Garden Suite

Hello and welcome back to another week of me hoping to inspire you with some ideas for your cards. Well, I'm sure many of you have made enough Christmas cards for this year so this is now December and we are all about the rest of the year. Cary and I have had a crazy week, we have had so many events this year online that we now have to send out our annual gifts and thank you's. In addition to preparing for the new catalogue which has arrived with us but will arrive with you by the beginning of the New Year. We will have first of all Thank you cards to write, then birthday, weddings, anniversaries, birth and of course sadly, loss of loved ones. I've gone into full thank you mode this week as the children and grandchildren are going to be asking for lots of thank you cards to send to friends and family this year as they'll obviously be unable to thank them face to face. What a year!! It has certainly has been a very unique one that hopefully will never be repeated.

My first card is of course a very simple one. I have stamped the images onto a white mat using the gorgeous bluey-green of Coastal Cabana ink and card base. I have actually made 3 different versions this week to show that with a few extras, you can change your card up very quickly and simply.

 

Here is the very simple card and using a few blends and some Frosted gems added it brightens the card immediately.

This next version I have stamped another flower and fussy cut it out and raised it using the foam shapes and the added gems.

As I said before, just by adding a few little touches I have managed to liven the card a little more. What will tomorrow bring I wonder?
