Watercolour Wednesday Be Jolly

Well today I have no watercolour card to share 🙄 instead I have a quandary! I have made 2 versions of one card and can't decide which I prefer.  Now they both use the  cute Be Jolly stamp set and some of the fun Gingerbread and Peppermint pattern paper.

But the quandary arises around which colour version 🤔  Now I'm not really into traditional red and green for Christmas  especially in cards but sometimes you just have to challenge yourself to work out side your own box!

So which is better the green version...

Or the red....

I think the design of the card is fab, it was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest but sadly didn't save so can't give named credit to sorry 😐.

I think I'm  leaning toward the red version.... but then again the green has its merits.... oh I don't know!! What do you think? Red ? Or Green?

Watercolour Wednesday sand and sea suite

Today is a a watercolour card..... promise 😉 It envolves ink and water so that makes it a watercolour technique for sure 👍 I know that the seashells in the Friends are like Seashells scream to be water coloured but I wanted to use the die cuts.

So in the stamp set there is a speckled background stamp that inspired me to create the splatered style background.  First I cut my watercolour paper to size and spritzed it lightly with water. Then I smoshed some ink onto an acrylic block and added a couple of drops of water.

Now the fun began! I used my brush to pick up the watered down ink and splattered it across the watercolour paper!. I also blew across the paper to create some movement of the wet ink across the paper. All in all a quite satisfying play with water and colour 😉

I then decided to add specks of gold to tie in with the gold die cut. I mixed a little water with some tombow glue on an acrylic block and using a clean brush splattered that across the piece. I then took some gold guilding flakes and rubbed them across.  They caught where the glue was and rubbed off the rest .

Once the background was dry I finished my card off with gold foil die cut and embossed and cut apart elements. A simple gold heat embossed sentiment and gold foil layer and voilà

Watercolour Wednesday

My watercolour card today is the smallest amount of watercolouring that I have ever done on a card! I still got very messy though! I started by covering the white mat with low tack sticky tape along the areas that I wanted to colour in. Then I used only a few colours and one of the new water brushes from Stampin' Up! I took the largest brush which is about 1/2" wide. I added a few drops of lovely bluey green onto a clear block and then spritzed it a few times with water. I mixed it in with the brush and just literally washed it across the middle of the taped area.  Then using2 more different colours, blue and yellow I did the same. The last one, the yellow, I used with a very fine water brush and just put a few spots and dashes here and there. It's very random for me, not like me at all!

It's nothing like I had anticipated but then nothing ever is! I then die cut some of the Stars and the swirls from the Stitched Snowflakes dies. Added a few thin strips of paper from the Brightly Gleaming papers and some strips of copper foil and that was it! A very quick but simple card again, for my watercolouring. The messages were from the stamp set called Perfectly Plaid. I'm so pleased they kept the papers, the stamp set and dies from last year. It makes it so much fun, I made 2 cards again! 😀😀😀

The little copper pieces at the inside corners of the card are from the die cut swirl. To me it looks like my initials! G M . I'm keeping that one! 😂😂😂
