Fun fold Friday Penguin Place

 Welcome to Fun fold Friday! Well today is definitely Friday but there's no fun fold 🙃 so what's going on I hear you say! Well I have loved playing with Penguin Place bundle and today's  card was in my minds eye all along 😅

I taken my colour inspiration  from the fantastic free, yes Free, pattern paper that is called Penguin Playmates The colours are a light blue, an orange, a lilac, a light and soft green and a soft darker blue. And the patterns are characters on one side and smaller repetative ones. 

I love a stripe so I used the stripped paper and covered the entire front of my A6 card front! 

I then took a piece of white cardstock measuring 9cm x 13cm and used the swosh stamp and a light turquoise ink called Pool Party. I then took my alcohol marker in the same shade and added some shadow lines underneath them. 

Next I  took a soft green ink and the Christmas tree stamp and stamped trees along the hills. I used the snowflakes all over the top of the card in the light turquoise ink. I then used the lilac ink to stamp and cut out 3 little parcels. I popped them onto 3d foam and placed them onto the panel.

Now for the fun part I took a cellophane bag, the kind I use to pop cards in to keep them nice like a shop does. I put my white stamped mat inside the bag. I wrapped the excess cellophane around the back and secured it but left the top open.

Into the opening I poured a spoonful of sequins into the bag and taped it shut. I then stuck it onto the front of my card.

I used the punch to create  a cute Penguin,  die cut a white frame and stamped a sentiment. I popped them onto 3d foam and attached the frame at a jaunty angle. I popped my penguin into the corner and my sentiment and I was finished.

This card was so much fun to make . So much fun that my 3 year old grandson wanted it!!! 

He just loved the fact that it made a noise and, like his mum,  loves a penguin 🐧.

Throwback Thursday Penguin Place

 Have you ever made your own Christmas/celebration cake? And if you made one did you decorate it with royal icing? Well I use'd too but not so much now . I particularly remember making Christmas cakes with lots of rough royal icing and putting little figures of Father Christmas  or snow covered Christmas trees on top.  Why are you asking am I talking about royal icing?? Well for today's Throwback Thursday Penguin Place card I've used something that reminds me of it!!

I started out with one of the new masks in the Adorning designs decorative masks. I chose the snowflake one to go with my penguine Christmas theme.

Once I'd secured the mask over a mat of dark blue cardstock I used a pallette knife to apply White embossing paste through the mask. I used a dabbing motion to make it a rough surface.  Once done I immediately placed the pallette knife and mask into warm soapy water. I left the panel to dry. 

Next I decided to fussy cut some of the characters from the super cute pattern paper that is available with a qualifying purchase called Penguin Playmates  from Stampin' Up!

Once I'd cut ot my characters I stamped one of the cute sentiments from the Penguin Place stamp set. I then mounted my snowflake embossed panel onto a white mat and secured a length of shimmery white ribbon along the width of the card. 

After mounting the panel onto a dark blue card base I added my characters and sentiment using 3d foam. Then I added a few sparkley sequines to give it a little more sparkle 

Now the texture of the paste is so much fun and brought back memories of those long gone christmas cakes 😁

To add a little something to my card I also decorated a panel for the inside.  I used the mask again but this time blended dark blue ink through it. Another length of ribbon and I was done.

I had great fun making this card and remembering those Christmas cakes  😋 . I do so love a mice rich fruit cake . What about you? Are you old school fruit cake and royal icing ? Or  more modern sponge and fondant icing? 

Watercolour Wednesday Penguin Place

 Do you ever have a week where you just can't get the day's right? Well this week is one such week for me!!yesterday I just didn't think it was going to be Wednesday today! And because of that I didn't get a card finished to share here!!! So better late than never here is my watercolour Wednesday Penguin Place card!!

I created a quick but colourful watercolour wash background. Using the fab Layering Diorama dies I created an iceberg for my penguin to rest on. 

I stamped my reclining penguin and fussy cut him out.

I used 3D foam to give the iceberg dimension and added a little watercolour shadow under my penguin.  

Then I  used the super fun I like you a lottle sentiment to make a fast easy card.

 Hopefully I'll get my day's  sorted for the rest of the week 😉 and normal service will be resumed tomorrow 😅

Tip,Tricks and Techniques Tuesday Penguin Place

 Do you have a particular Christmas style that you come back to year after year? Or do you bring something different every year? Well to start this Christmas crafting season I've taken inspiration from a little product from the August to December called Kraft paper . Paired with the the Penguin Place  I decided to create Christmas cards using an old trick using White ink and a Blender pen.

I used black ink to stamp onto a piece of the kraft paper cut to fit onto  a standard A6 card base. I used the sliding penguin, the tree and the swosh stamp to create a scene.

I then took my white ink and stamped the snowflake stamp, some stars atop the trees and some snowballs

Next I put some white ink onto an acrylic block and using my blender pen coloured in my penguin.  I also added some white under the swosh and around the snowballs and trees. A sentiment and card number 1 was completed and adhered to a white card base.

For card number 2 I used the same tequnique and created a card with the seated penguin.  

This time I stamped and coloured my penguin. Then I  created a mask for the penguin by stampin the same stamp onto the sticky edge of a sticky note, and cuttingbit out. I then placed the mask ove the stamped image and took the snowflake stamp and white ink and stamped a flurry over the front of the card.

Once I was happy with my flurry I removed the mask from the penguin.  I then stamped the antlers onto him.

The same message as for card 1 but this time with a small white mat behind it and I was ready to adhere it to a white card base.

I love this tequnique of colouring with white ink on a coloured background. I think it makes for a very different Christmas card. What do you think? 

Make it simple Monday Penguin Place

 I do like a stamp set that covers multiple occasions.  I also like one that can be used for #simplestamping projects. I like stamp sets that have a selection of sentiments. I like stamp sets that will appeal to all ages. And I've  got one such set to share with you guys this week!! Called Penguin Place this super fun set has lots to offer!

For today's Make it Simple Monday inspiration as always I'm  just using stamps, ink and paper. I have created what I call  scene latouts for my cards and used different occassions and colour palettes to creat different cards. 

The basic  layout is the same for both the Christmas and birthday cards. I started out by stamping the black components,  the penguin and  the swosh ( a curve that creates a hill). 

I then dressed the penguin a bow tie for the birthday and a scarf and wooly hat for the Christmas one. I did of course give him a beak and feet!

Now to customise the card for the event. Christmas trees with stars atop and a Christmas greeting on one. On the other a pile of gifts and a balloon. 

For this first set of inspiration I went for what I call a primary colour palette.  Red, blue , green yellow and orange in clear bold shades.

Once I'd completed this pair I thought how would they work with a different colour palette 🤔 So I pulled out a selection of inks that were still blue, green, yellow, orange and red bases. But this time the tones and hues were what I call a more contemporary palette. I used a pink instead of red, a softer green , a turquoise shade of blue and softer shades of yellow and orange. 

The layouts are identical just different colours yet they create a different feel to the cards.
