Crisp and glittery...

Brrrrr the weather here in Crawley West Sussex has got very chilly with some very frosty mornings. But boy does the frost sparkle and shine in the bright sunlight 😊 just like glittery silver glimmer paper that I'm  to showcase in my samples this week.
Today's card is the card I sent to my niece to celebrate her 18th birthday the sparkly 18 is on all sides of the cube and is far more blingy in real life 😊

Tutorial - Card Fold

 Card Folding

I'm not sure what this card fold is called or even if it has a name.I played with a piece of paper one day and got this shape. I've seen several different cards made like this since.
So I clearly had the same idea as someone else!

I started by cutting a C6 mat at 10.5cm by 29.7 cm and scored the centre fold
at 14.85 cm along the long edge.
The 2nd piece of card is 20 cm by 20 cm. Scored at 10 cm across the middle once only.
Then score diagonally across the 4 corners.

Measuring 5 cm from each corner, I scored the line up to the diagonal score line.
This is done on all 4 corners to show a box shape. Sorry, my photos aren't that brilliant.

Once all the score lines are done, fold up and the card will look like this above.

Now measure, cut and make the mats for the back of the card leaving the 2 panels as shown as they will be hidden.
Yes, I decorated the back too as it will be on show.

I decorated the front in a similar way only this time I did all of the panels.
I then added a piece of DSP to the C6 card base as shown just so that when
the inner card is added, it doesn't show the card base.

Both cards above ready for putting together.
First of all, lay the inner card inside the outer one so that it sits well inside.
Holding it still, (if possible), remove the tape cover and close one side of the card.

Turn the whole card over and repeat the process.
Your card is now ready to decorate as you want.

I used the Card Front Builder Thinlits to decorate this one.
I heat embossed the messages, tree and the Jingle.

I hope you manage to follow my instructions on this.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you, Gill

Card Folds - Day 5
This is the last day for card folding projects. I say projects but I always make cards!
Cary is the expert at making 3D objects.
Anyway, today I went fold crazy!
Made with 1 piece of card still, I cut and scored this one to get the following.

This again is a C6 card and once again cut along the full length of the A4 card.
Scoring along the edge I have this kind of concertina shape.

I used  2 different designs of paper from the Year of Cheer Designer Series paper
and cut each panel to fit.

Using the Card Front Builder Thinlits, I die cut the trees and stars.

The messages were heat embossed in Gold and are from the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set.

Thank you for popping by this week.
Please come and see what delights Cary has in store for you next week.
That is...if she decides to come back from her holiday in Florida!

Card Folds - Day 4

Today's card is one I'm really pleased with as it's a simple C6 card base
with the folding on the inside of the card.

I've used Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White cardstock
then some paper from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper for decorating.
Another simple card for beginners or the more experienced crafter to make.

Using the Stitched Shapes, Square Framelits, I cut the 2 red mats.
The white mats were cut to fit.
The Snowflake and the message inside is heat embossed in
Silver using Cheers to the Year stamp set.

As I mentioned earlier, the folding is on the inside this time. I have used Cardstock Vellum
and the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the snowflake.
This has a deep impression on this folder so I embossed this one using the
Multipurpose platform on the Big Shot.
I had to take all of the layers off and embossed it successfully using
only the cutting plates and a piece of card as a thin shim.

As I used Vellum, I would be able to pop in a battery operated candle behind the vellum.
Which of course will highlight the snowflake.

Card Folds - Day 3

Today's card is a simpler card but very effective I think.
I used Dapper Denim as the card base and Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper for the mats.

This is a C6 card but it's the full length of an A4 sheet of paper.
It is scored at 4 points along the full width to give the shape you can see below.

I used Silver Foiled paper for the accents on top of the copper paper and
copper images inside onto the Whisper White mat.

This is a very straightforward card that beginners could try as it's just mats
once the folds have been scored

With the amount of folds, I think using the simple messages are just perfect.
I used Snowflake Sentiments for the messages and Swirly Snowflake Thinlits
for the snowflake embellishments.

Come back tomorrow and see what else can be done with card folds.

Card Folds - Day 2

Today's card is one I have made before but not for a very long time.
There's lots of folds in but it is very simple.
Honestly!

I used Be Merry Designer Series Paper, Thick White and Basic Black cardstock.
I used a little of the Silver foiled card for the accents.

I used Musical Season and the coordinating framelits, Musical Instruments.

As the edges of the card are going to be very visible, I decided to add some
of the papers to the sides too.

The base card is C6 and the inner caard is a 20 cm square which is scored in half both ways on the diagonal and once on the horizontal line. Then 5 cm in from each corner to make the little square
which folds into little triangles. You can see this better from the picture below.

Lots of little pieces to place DSP in but I think it's worth it.

The card can be laid on it's side or stood up as it is.

Weekly Inspiration - Card Folds

 Fancy Card Folds

Hello.
Everyone who knows me, knows that I love making a different type of card fold.
I do still make the standard type of card base though.
So, this week, my intent is to show you some different ways to fold your cards.
This first card is the one that I made for our Stampin' Up! get-together last weekend.
I called it, 1 stamp, 1 die, 1 punch.

I only made 240 cards this time, and I kept a few of the different colours!
I believe it's called a step or stepper card.

The stamp was Marbled, the die is Happy Birthday Thinlits die and the Punch is the Decorative Border Punch.
The longest part was the cutting and scoring of the steps but I think it's well worth the time. I made a template using some thick Acetate to make the project easier.

I used Very Vanilla and Whisper White Thick cardstock and the inks were: Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Pear Pizazz, Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral, Marina Mist and Soft Sky! Just a few!!

The Happy Birthday die was cut in the same colour as the inks and also Gold Foiled card and Silver Foiled card. The punched border was also in gold and silver foiled card.

I hope you find this one fun and easy to do, It really isn't hard at all.
If you would like one of the cards, please email and I will be happy to make and send you one.
Thank you

Many metals...

Today is the last of this week's Inspiration and I've used all the metallic foils from stampin up to create a simple card that is rather elegant in my opinion.
Next week Gill will be sharing her talent with us all ☺
Have a nice weekend
Have fun
