Throwback Thursday - This Birthday Piggy

This Thursday, using This Birthday Piggy stamp set, I've made a simple card by stamping the dozing piggy all around the card mat. I stamped them all in Memento ink and then using the Stampin' Blends pens, coloured them all in. A very simple method of decorating a card. Once complete, I added it to a piece of Mango Melody card before adding it to the card base using Dimensionals. It's as simple as that today. A very simple card all around!

Watercolour Wednesday - This Birthday Piggy

Watercolour Wednesday already! Where do the days go to? Today's card is the best way that I love to watercolouring is going the whole hog so to speak. That is by watercolouring the whole lot! Using the stamps from This Birthday Piggy today, I stamped the motor scooter using a Stazon ink pad onto a C6 card mat. Stazon is a pigment based ink pad and necessary when water colouring not a water based ink pad. I used the Stampin' Up! watercolour pencils set 1 and set 2 and water colour brushes. I then decided to fussy cut all of the aspects of the image out right down to the tiny little stars, circles etc. Basically I paper pieced the whole lot. The only part that I actually watercoloured on the card itself was the ground and the background. I had great fun! I know...I can hear you saying that I am mad but I really did enjoy doing it!

I used Melon Mambo card for the mat behind the white mat on both the front and the inside of the card. I restamped the scooter, watercoloured it in, fussy cut it out and added to the inside to complete this card.

Technique Tuesday - This Birthday Piggy

We have just heard some fantastic news! Stampin' Up! is opening up within Ireland and Belgium later this year! That's incredible. Hooray!!! That means any of you in Ireland and Belgium can start looking and downloading the catalogue from Stampin' Up! NOW! We will be informed of the dates in the coming months but anyone who is interested in buying the beautiful products or hopefully even joining this amazing company, the time is getting much closer.. Oh! I'm really excited this is at last happening and hope that you are too!  Now changing the subject.... today's card is one that I haven't made for a while but I enjoyed making it anyway so using This Birthday Piggy stamp set,  I started by stamping the pig on the motor scooter and then had great fun colouring it in with my stampin' blends pens. I don't know what it is about colouring pictures but I find it so very relaxing. I guess that it takes me back to being a little girl at home with my brother and sisters, just enjoying the family fun. Once it was coloured I took the Stylish Shapes Dies which have the stitched edges and cut out the image. I have used Soft Sea Foam for the card today and adhered a mat of the lovely silver, spotted paper that will be available during Saleabration which starts in only a few days. I then took the slightly larger die and cut the circle from the centre-front of the card base. I added the coloured image to the green circle and using Dimensionals, placed it through the front of the card and adhered it to the inside.

Adding a few sentiments, flowers and butterflies completed this card.

Make It Simple Monday - #simplestamping - This Birthday Piggy

Hello on this lovely Make It Simple Monday, we are supposed to be having a lovely, sunny week so fingers crossed that it will be please. I am using one of the new stamp sets called This Birthday Piggy this week and I have had great pleasure playing with it too. Today's card is aimed at the beginner crafter or someone who just needs to make a card in a hurry. I have used only Basic white card and a white card mat. I stamped the little piggy with the birthday cake and balloon as I think it's so cute. Now cute cards aren't normally my thing as you've probably seen but I just love the pigs!

Anyway, I used my granddaughter's colouring pencils again to colour this one in very lightly. I think most people can put their hands on a simple set of colouring pencils and I wanted to show that most images can be coloured in very simply. A simple sentiment on the front and a few balloons for the inside and it was completed once I walked the edge of the card mat across the Memento ink pad to show the edge of the mat.

Fun fold Friday Glad We're Friends

For my final card of cute week I knew I wanted to use this particular stamp set . The reason being that it contains the most gorgeous cute critter, my favourite pet of all time.. a Guinea Pig 😍😍😍 Called Glad We're Friends. It does contain some other cuties but for all you guinea pig lover here they are...

Glad were friends stampin up fun fold guinea pig card

Aren't they just the cutest? I love all the images and the sentiments just make me laugh 😆

So what did I do with them, well I stamped lots of the little cutie pies, coloured them and fussy cut them out!

I then took a piece of cardstock measuring 14.85cm x 28cm.  I scored it at 7cm, 14cm and 21cm. I then marked each side top and bottom at 5cm and 3.5cm in. Score between these 2 points on both sides. Next I cut between the 2 top marks and the bottom 2.

Now to create the folds . Starting from the left hand side fold the first short scoreline as a valley fold. The next is a mountain fold in the middle and valley fold top and bottom. Then a valley in the middle and mountain top and bottom.  The next set of folds are mountain in the middle and valley top and bottom. The final fold is a valley on the short fold line.

Now that all sounds crazy but I promise once you do it it will make sense!!

Hopefully the above diagram will help!!

Now once its all folded together it should create a slim line card that will fit into a C6 envelope.

I the took 2 pieces of cardstock measuring 14.85cm x 7cm. I used these to cover the front and back cover to reinforce them.

I decorated the front of the closed card and used some pretty ribbon to secure it. Remember to only attatch the ribbon on the front panel 😉

The inside I went to town with decorating it in the same pretty pattern paper as the front on all panels except the middle sections.

For the middle I cut up one of the fun sentiments and added my cute piggies all around.

Throwback Thursday Party Puffins

For today's inspiration I thought I'd have a play with a stamp set that I fell in love with in last years annual catalogue which has carried over into this years catalogue. Called Party Puffins this cute fun set is great for children and those who are young at heart.

Party Puffins stampin up fun cute birthday card

I paired it up with another carryover item from the last annual catalogue a die called Picture This

Picture This dies Stampin up cute fun birthday card

So with these 2 familiar items I decided to pair them with the latest In-Colors.  I chose the gorgeous tahitian tide turquoise blue. I picked some of the pattern paper and a piece of the beautiful glimmer paper in the colour to use on my card.

My first job was to use the die and cut out the circle appatures from the glimmer paper. I them popped 3d foam behind it.

Next I cut a piece of the pattern paper as a mat for my coloured  card base. I decided to of set it at a jaunty angle just because I could 😄

Now with the pattern mat adhered I popped the glimmer paper in place. Then it was time to stamp, colour and fussy cut the puffins and other images.

Once I had them cut out it was time to work out the placement. I wanted my images to be peeping out and have a sense of fun.

I chose to stamp my sentiment and cut it up . This is a technique I use often as it allows the sentiment to flow.

I am really please with the way my mish mash of new and old came together. The glimmer paper really shimmers beautifully in real life. It has an ombre effect as well which makes it really pretty. The photo doesn't really do it justice.

These little cuties deserved to have a fun inside too so here it is...

I used some of the circles from the appatures and a scrap of pattern paper to decorate the inside. I then stamped a sentiment and adhered that with them.

All in all this card turned our really well and would make any birthday a happier one.

Watercolour Wednesday Cheerful Basket

Are you a dog or a cat person? Me I love dogs 🐕 . Cats do nothing for me but saying that I'm not immune to their cuteness or their antics. But dogs win out for me 😉. Which is why I was surprised to gind my self drawn to this oh so cute kitty in the Cheerful Basket stamp set !!!

Cheerful Basket stampin up watercolour wash and splatter get well card

I started by stamping the kitty onto a piece of masking paper and fussy cut him out. When doing this type of mask I always cut on the stamped outline. I think this gives the best results especially when you are wanting the colour around the image to be as close as possible. I then stamped my kitty onto a card mat. I didn't use watercolour paper as I knew that this was going to be a dryish watercolour wash.

Now the masking paper I used isn't designed for use with water. But it stood up well enough for the quick wash of watercolour I painted over it. I did it in several layers and dried between each one so that the mask didn't get too wet nore stayed wet for too long.

Once I had a watercolour wash I was happy with I kept the mask in place and splattered some grey splodges over top of the piece. I then made sure they were dry and carefully removed my mask.

My cute kitty was revealed in all its white glory.  I decided to use the grey colour to colour him in with tiny touches of very pale pink in his ears.

Whilst waiting for the watercolour to dry I made my card base and cut a mat of pattern paper. I also stamped and cut up my sentiment.  I then found some white twine and iridescent rhinestones to embellish the card.

Once the watercolour mat was dry I also stamped the little butterfly just to add even more cuteness!

I am really happy with the way today's inspiration came out. I hope you agree with me .

Tips tricks and techniques Tuesday Elephant Parade

Sometimes the inspiration for a card comes from the stamps or pattern paper,  sometimes from a particular theme other times it can be as random as a scene from a film or the chorus from a song. The inspiration for todays card came from a little of many of the above. 😁 I love the new Elephant Parade stamp set and coordinating dies.  They are soo cute and for some reason my mind went to the Disney version of The Jungle Book and the elephant's parade song!.

The colour theme sprang from this weeks challenge on our Crafty challenges with 2 Big GirlsCrafting Facebook group.. Rainbows 🌈  and if you've been here before you'll know I do love a rainbow 😁

Elephant Parade stampin up fun masking technique card

I love how this card came together.  I used the new masking paper from the new annual catalogue from Stampin' Up! This paper is perfect for creating masks of your stamped images.

First you stamp onto the white side and fussy cut it out. Next  take your anti static bag and swipe it across the cardstock.  This is a top tip as it helps ensure that the masking paper doesn't cause the cardstock to go furry when you remove the mask.

Now stamp your first image in to place on the cardstock. I  stamped my first elephant in red on the left hand side of my panel slightly of the edge.

I then covered the image with my mask reinked my stamp in orange and stamped it so that it comes over the top of the masked elephant.

Now remove the mask and place it over the orange  elephant and stamp again in yellow... and so on and so on...

I love to see how the images emerge behind each other as if by magic!

Once my troop of elephant's on parade we're stamped I gave the top and bottom edge of my card base a swipe of colour using sponge daubers. This gives a great effect when you don't have the colour cardstock to hand!.

I then coloured a scrap of card in the same way to use for the leaves and grass. I used the dies to cut the grass and leaves.  A cute  sentiment and my card was complete.

Fun Fold Friday - Jar of Flowers

Here we are already it's Friday! Where does the time go? Well, weather wise, we have had a glorious week of beautiful sunshine but sad to say all good thing must come to an end! It's due to rain all weekend!! Oh Well, we can't have it good all of the time can we? Anyway, today's card using the Jar of Flowers stamp set is another easy fun fold. I've made a larger version, A5 this time as it's for another friend. I coordinated it once again with the sentiments from Celebrating You stamp set. To make this I started with a whole sheet of A4 white card for the base and scored and folded it at 14.85cm by 21cm. Then on both sides of the front, I cut 4cm in right up to the score line and adhered them to the card.

I chose to use the gorgeous 2022-2024 In Colour Designer Series Papers for the inside and front panel and the stunning 2022-2024 In Colour Glimmer Papers. I really love all of the new colours which have just come in don't you? What's your favourite? Do you have a favourite? I don't! I can't chose as I love them all! Anyway... I added a strip of glimmer paper 3.5cm wide by 14.4cm long to both sides of the card. Then added a piece of the DSP into the centre of the card 13cm by 14.85cm.

The top of the card was then scored at 7.4cm across the centre to form the Easel for the front panel. I took a piece of the Tahitian Tide card and 14.85cm by 13cm and added a piece of DSP 14.4cm by 12.5cm to the front of that. This was then adhered to the lower part of the white card base, as the easel.

I took some time to colour the images in and then just for a change, I fussy cut them all out! A simple message here and there and the main card is completed. I wanted to add a little extra so I die cut some Glimmer Paper using the Delicate Edges Dies. OMG!!! Do I like them! They are really beautiful. Just to have a little or larger details along or around the card just finishes things off for me.

Well, once again, this is the end of the week again. Thank you so much for stopping by to have a look at my cards this week, please feel free to leave me a message or ask any question you may have too.
