Fun Fold Friday - Artistically Inked

 Here we are and it's already Friday! Today's card is similar to one that I cased from another demonstrator, Susan Stampfield. I made one similar to Susan's card for our retreat but tomorrow is my daughter in law, Jemma's birthday so this will be for her. I have still used the Artistically Inked stamp set and Artistic Dies and decorated by adding some DSP from Hello, Irresistible 6" by 6" DSP. 

 Susan's called her card a Flying Seagull and is only 10.5cm high or 4,1/8" but this time I have made mine from 1 sheet of A4 White card. I cut the sheet in half at 14.85cm by 21cm.  I then had 2 pieces the same size and scored each piece at 5.7cm, 10.1cm and 15.8cm. (2,1/4", 3,15/16" and 6,3/16")I burnished each of the score lines and then turned the right hand one upside down. This now means that the outer panels are both 5.7cm. I cut another piece of White card  at 10cm by 14.85cm (4,1/8" by 5,7/8") This panel will now be adhered to the 2 inner panels that measure 5.2cm or 2,1/16" wide. I suggest using Tear 'n Tape or Tombow, one side at a time. Susan advised fixing the other side of the panel by turning it over once the first half of the panel is glued. There is no other fixing for this card. Once the single panel is glued to the 2 panels/card base, it should measure approximately 32cm or 12,1/2". 

I used 2 different designs of the papers, one is in a lighter shade of Flirty Flamingo and the other is the Soft Sea Foam. I used the same ink pad colours too. When I stamped the flowers, the colour was a little too strong so I stamped over the stamped images with my Whisper Ink pad. I softened the colours down perfectly.

Measurements for each piece of the card

You should be able to see how the panels are adhered in the centre. The folds from left to right should be Mountain, Valley, Valley. The 2 edge pieces are standing up together facing you. This will be the front of your card. The next folds are Valley, Valley, Mountain.

This picture shows the 2 centre panels that the single piece will be adhered to. You literally push both folds together, glue one side, turn it over and glue the other side up tight to the fold. You will notice a small gap at the sides of the front, floating panel. That is to allow the cars to fold without bulking the card out.

Once the panel is glued onto the card bases it is now time to decorate. I did not decorate the 2 panels below the centre one as they are not on show at all. I added a sentiment to the centre back of the card so there is somewhere to add my message for Jemma. The sentiment is from Celebrating You stamp set. I used some left over strips of the DSP and some flowers and leaves to make it a little more interesting.

Fun Fold Friday - Cheerful Basket

 My last card this week using the Cheerful Basket stamp set, I've made a standard Z fold card with a little extra. Now yellow isn't usually my go to colour, although I do like yellow but it's quite a strong colour and wasn't quite sure if it would work. I think it does, I hope you do too.

I took a piece of Thick Basic White card and cut it at 29.7cm by 10.5cm. Basically, that's half a sheet of A4 cutting straight down the middle when you hold it in a portrait style. I scored it in half when I turned it to landscape direction and then one side in half again. That's it! It is as simple as that. The rest is decoration. 

I wanted to make apricots and not apples with the stamps this time. I don't know if it looks like apricots, yellow peaches or what but I stamped several images of the 'apples' stamp and one of the basket. The rest was colouring in. Now you know that I love my Stampin' Blends pens so that's what I used in several shades and different colours. Pinks, oranges and yellows just on the fruit. If you don't have the Blends, use any colouring medium that will give you the shading that you want. It works even with colouring pencils.

The yellow card is Daffodil Delight and the other is Soft Suede for the mats. I embossed all of the  Daffodil Delight mats with the Leaf Fall embossing folder. It gives a really detailed effect on the papers. It's really lovely. 

The extra part is the little strip of card that was cut at 2xm by 9cm and scored every 2cm and then glued using multipurpose glue. As I had folded the strip in half all I had to do was to add adhesive to one of the squares before adding it to the position I wanted it to be in. Once in position, I added glue to the piece on the left and folded the card down to ensure fixing in the correct position. I opened it up and added a piece of Soft Suede 4cm by 5cm. This was then where I added the basket and fruit. When the card opens, so does the basket. It just pops out.

I finished off the card by using one of the sentiments from the stamp set and another from Celebrating You stamp set.

Fun Fold Friday - Jar of Flowers

Here we are already it's Friday! Where does the time go? Well, weather wise, we have had a glorious week of beautiful sunshine but sad to say all good thing must come to an end! It's due to rain all weekend!! Oh Well, we can't have it good all of the time can we? Anyway, today's card using the Jar of Flowers stamp set is another easy fun fold. I've made a larger version, A5 this time as it's for another friend. I coordinated it once again with the sentiments from Celebrating You stamp set. To make this I started with a whole sheet of A4 white card for the base and scored and folded it at 14.85cm by 21cm. Then on both sides of the front, I cut 4cm in right up to the score line and adhered them to the card.

I chose to use the gorgeous 2022-2024 In Colour Designer Series Papers for the inside and front panel and the stunning 2022-2024 In Colour Glimmer Papers. I really love all of the new colours which have just come in don't you? What's your favourite? Do you have a favourite? I don't! I can't chose as I love them all! Anyway... I added a strip of glimmer paper 3.5cm wide by 14.4cm long to both sides of the card. Then added a piece of the DSP into the centre of the card 13cm by 14.85cm. 

The top of the card was then scored at 7.4cm across the centre to form the Easel for the front panel. I took a piece of the Tahitian Tide card and 14.85cm by 13cm and added a piece of DSP 14.4cm by 12.5cm to the front of that. This was then adhered to the lower part of the white card base, as the easel. 

I took some time to colour the images in and then just for a change, I fussy cut them all out! A simple message here and there and the main card is completed. I wanted to add a little extra so I die cut some Glimmer Paper using the Delicate Edges Dies. OMG!!! Do I like them! They are really beautiful. Just to have a little or larger details along or around the card just finishes things off for me.

Throwback Thursday - Jar of Flowers

Hello on this gorgeous hot Thursday. It really does make a change to be able to say the here in the UK. Today's card using the Jar of Flowers stamp set is a shaker card. I didn't set out to make a shaker card but it just had to be done! I stamped the jar and the flowers then coloured them all in using several of the Blends pens. Now I love my Blends pens as much as I love my Stampin' Write Marker Pens AND my Watercolour pencils but today was just Blends. I decided to make it a shaker card as all of my vases have crystals at the bottom to help hold the flowers together so I felt that had to be done. 

The sentiments once again are from the stamp set called Celebrating You. It is a perfect collection of lots of different everyday sentiments. It's the ideal stamp set to have for that sentiment that you need.

Technique Tuesday - Jar of Flowers

 Hello, for today's card using the Jar of Flowers stamp set, I've gone back to my granddaughter's colouring pencils again. I used a piece of blue card in Starry Sky, and a piece of the paper from the Sun Prints DSP pack for the main background. The main colours of the DSP is a soft beige called Sahara Sand and several shades of blue. I added another strip of the striped pattern and then stamped the flower image from Jar of Flowers then coloured it in. I love playing with Bella's colouring pencils as she has so many different ones! I cut a piece of white card and embossed it using one of the Greenery set of 2 folders, which has sadly retired. There are a few more new ones out that will coordinate really well but I haven't yet been able to buy! After a few sentiments from the Celebrating You stamp set and then adding the flowers, this one is completed.
