Throwback Thursday - DSP - Tea Boutique DSP

 Today's card is very like the cards that Cary made on her live yesterday. She made 4 beautiful cards and I decided to follow her same design but just changed this one a little. I had some strips of paper left from other projects just as Cary had earlier yesterday. This time I have used the Tea Boutique designer series papers from Stampin' Up! I started by cutting the strips of paper to the correct size and added them to White mats. Trying to decide what colour to use was tricky. I knew I didn't want any more yellow or even a plain white card base but I ended up with one more that I rarely use surpringly. I chose the strong Garden Green for the card base and I'm pleased to see that it works well. I added a strip of the white crinkled ribbon threaded around the centre panel, knotted and stretched across the outer two panels. A few simple sentiments and a few more lemons on the inside to complete it.

 

Throwback Thursday - Family & Friends

 The card today is another that I made a while ago. Using the Family and Friends stamp set and the Picture This dies, I die cut the circles from a piece of white card. I then used the Stitched Greenery die to add the leaf design to it. I added acetate on the inside of the mat and then added some of the foam adhesive strips around the edge of the circles. I die cut circles in DSP from the Santa Express papers and using some of the circles that I die cut and stamped the images and sentiment across them. Unfortunately, I used too many of the Effervescent Elements inside the circles! Another lesson learned! Don't use too many sprinkles! 

Once they were added, I placed the card base over the die cut mat with sprinkles in. I added a rim of Tombow Multipurpose glue to the tops of the circles so that I had a few moments to adjust it once it was added to the card base.  The card base is made from Shaded Spruce card. Inside, I added the strings of lights and another sentiment to complete it.

Throwback Thursday - Count On Me

  Well! It has to be Koalas, they are so very cute to look at! I don't know if they are in reality but they look quite gentle and this image from the Count On Me stamp set, well, cuddling each other, they clearly are very cute aren't they? I used another piece of the Happy Forest Friends paper for this one. The DSP mat I chose, has 3 branches sticking out on the trunks which were crying out to be perches for the koalas so that's why I stamped 3 lots of them. I coloured them all in very lightly using my Smoky Slate Blends pen. I needed only to use the light pen as that gives enough colour for the creatures. 

I took a piece of Granny Apple Green card and embossed it using the Elegant Eucalyptus Embossing Folders duo, it was perfect enough to give me the leaves for the card. Once embossed, I fussy-cut several of the them out and trailed them down the length of the tree trunks! A sentiment here and there and this card was complete. 

 

                                                                              

 

 

      

Throwback Thursday - Cottage Rose

 Hello, today's card was inspired by a card that I made for our retreat back in March of this year. I believe that it's called and book fold, I may be wrong but it looks very like it to me too. Using the Cottage Rose stamp set and the coordination papers called Abigail Rose, I cut a piece from the patterned papers and started to cut it right down. Bella continued to fussy cut it for me as I was unable to complete it. As I mentioned earlier in the week, I have carpal tunnel and I am finding it quite restricting, to say the least! 

I coloured in the piece using my Stampin Blends pens and once finished, using Tombow multipurpose glue, I glued it to a piece of Smoky Slate card and gently cut around leaving a small border behind. Before I fixed the book fold down, I tied a piece of the Gray Granite ribbon around it and used some of the Stampin Up! Tear 'n Tape to seal it.

 I used some more of the DSP on the card base, picking one of the other patterns of DSP in the same Smoky Slate and the 2 pieces were attached to the card base. I added Dimensionals to the back of the flowers to adhere to the card front. A few sentiments later, and this card is completed.

 

Throwback Thursday - Apple Harvest

 Hello again, today's card using the Apple Harvest stamp set I've gone back to a very simple design. I randomly stamped some of the apple stamps over a C6 white mat. That then had a slightly smaller mat added to it using a piece of the Vellum Layering Designs 12" by 12" papers. Several are printed on in white or black ink. Others have maps and printed information again in black and in white. I chose the white small printed sheet. A Stitched Rectangles die cut in Metallic silver and then 3 apples were stamped onto a white scrap of card and of course fussy cut out. 

A simple sentiment saying Thanks and the rest of the sentiment was cut and placed on the inside. That's it, a very simple throwback for this Thursday.

 

Throwback Thursday Sale-A-Bration

 Today I'm revisiting an old favourite... Fussy cutting! I know its a bit of a marmite thing... you either love it or hate it!! But both Gill and I love it 😀. So what will I fussy cut 🤔 well as I'm sharing inspiration with the July and August Sale-A-Bration offering I thought what better way to show how useful pattern paper it!! I chose to use the gorgeous Rings of love paper as my starting point. 

These papers coordinate with items from the July to December mini catalogue and many others from the annual catalogue.  But I feel they are stand alone and can be mixed with so many themes and celebrations. 

The patterns I chose were the mandala and the houses one. I was inspired by a card created by one of the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design team and just love the gentle colour palette. 

Are the colours just beautiful?  Gentle and subtle blues and greens. They make for an elegant colour palette. 

To start my card I fussy cut one of the mandala that was printed along the edge of the paper, wast not want not after all!! Next I decided which house to ise and cut some of the trees and a small bush as well.

I wanted the edges of the mandala to not stand out too much on my white mat so took a blending brush and the same shade of green ink, mint macaroon is it's name, and added a gentle blended patch. The blended patch extended beyond the area where the fussy cut paper was going and gently faded outwards . 

To add a little extra to the mat I took an alcohol marker in the same colour and spattered all around.

Next I adhered the mandala flat and added the house and trees with 3d foam. I created the sentiment for the card by stamping and cutting up various phrases to create my own from the Amazing Phrasing stamp set that is also an exclusive Sale-A-Bration offering. 

Once I'd stamped and cut my sentiment I took my blending brush that I'd used to create the background and gently applied a little colour arounf the edges. This ensures that the cut edges aren't quite so harsh against the background. 

I think this card would work well for a leaving card or a moving away card. 

The dimension that placing the house and trees on 3d foam give helps to make sure they don't just meld into the background. 

All in all this card came together quickly and easily. The fussy cutting wasn't hard as there weren't any intricate bits 😉

So my top tip is sometimes let the paper do the talking!!!

Throwback Thursday - This Birthday Piggy

This Thursday, using This Birthday Piggy stamp set, I've made a simple card by stamping the dozing piggy all around the card mat. I stamped them all in Memento ink and then using the Stampin' Blends pens, coloured them all in. A very simple method of decorating a card. Once complete, I added it to a piece of Mango Melody card before adding it to the card base using Dimensionals. It's as simple as that today. A very simple card all around!

 

 

  

Throwback Thursday - Jar of Flowers

Hello on this gorgeous hot Thursday. It really does make a change to be able to say the here in the UK. Today's card using the Jar of Flowers stamp set is a shaker card. I didn't set out to make a shaker card but it just had to be done! I stamped the jar and the flowers then coloured them all in using several of the Blends pens. Now I love my Blends pens as much as I love my Stampin' Write Marker Pens AND my Watercolour pencils but today was just Blends. I decided to make it a shaker card as all of my vases have crystals at the bottom to help hold the flowers together so I felt that had to be done. 

The sentiments once again are from the stamp set called Celebrating You. It is a perfect collection of lots of different everyday sentiments. It's the ideal stamp set to have for that sentiment that you need.

Throwback Thursday - Wisteria Wishes

 Thursday already! Where does the time fly? Today's card is another style that I like to do and it's simply stamping a background and then adding something to it as a focal point. Using Wisteria Wishes, I have done just what I set out to do. I think it's a simple and effective way to show  a card and the stamps that you used to its full potential. 

Enough of my banter... I used the gorgeous bright green of Granny Apple Green for the stems and a mixture of a very pale peach.. Pale Papaya, a bright yellow ...Daffodil Delight and and hint of peach with Flirty Flamingo. I used the light Pool Party Blend pen to give the background. The addition of the Pale Papaya ribbon and the sentiment in the same colour ink completes this one. 

 

  

                                                

Throwback Thursday - Cup of Tea

Have you ever made a card that tends to stick in your mind? Well, this one is one of mine that I always remember. I made this for my son's birthday several years ago and he loved it, so I guess that's why I often go back and re-make it. Today though, I have used the Tea Boutique Designer Series Papers which co-ordinate with the Cup Of Tea stamp set. 

Instead of choosing stamped images to make a scene, this time I have used strips of the gorgeous papers which have 12 different designs on them. I am using the Orchid Oasis card base which is 14.85cm by 14.85cm or 6" by 6". I embossed a white mat with the Bouquet of Love embossing folder and mounted the paper strips onto card to make them pop. I die-cut one of the cups and stamped my sentiment again using the Orchid Oasis Ink Pad. The dies are called Teacup Dies. The gems are also coordinated with the Cup of Tea Suite and Bundle and are called Glossy Dots Assortments. They are GORGEOUS!

Throwback Thursday - Love of Leaves

 Well, the weather forecast for this week was rain, rain and more rain. It hasn't let us down either!! Rain, rain go away, come again another day. Do you remember ditties like that from your childhood too? There are soooo many I can remember. Anyway, enough reminiscing! Today's card with the Love of Leaves stamp set is yet another very simple one. I know that I've said that every day this week but they seriously are simple! Today's is similar to Tuesday's in as much as it's an aperture with paper below. This time I used a piece 10cm by 14.4cm of the Simply Elegant Speciality Designer Series Paper and added to the Gorgeous Grape, purple card base. I then cut a White matt 9 cm by 13.4 cm and die cut the large maple leaf from the centre. I then embossed the matt on it's own using the Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder. I chose this one as the pattern matches with the pattern on the DSP. The mat was fixed to the DSP using Dimensionals and the leaf that was die cut earlier was added in the same way. Another simple 'Hello' completes this card today.
