Fun Fold Friday - Love of Leaves

Well here we are on Friday's post already! Normally, I make the cards and post them on a daily basis. This week I am so ahead of myself for a change. I made this card last Thursday! Strangely enough, last night Cary and I were teaching a class and I showed her what I was making. She said look at Friday's post. So I did. I have made this Friday's card very similar to the one she made and showed last week! What are the odds on that happening? I know that we have similar ideas and often know what the other is thinking but this was weird! Anyway, for my last card for this week, I have made a gatefold card with a twist. Using most of the leaves from the Love of Leaves stamp set, I cut half a piece of A4 card and stamped it onto the ink pad and then kissed another colour on the edges to give different tones to them. 

The colours I used are extremely unlike me. I don't mix colours in this way as a rule but for some reason on this one, I did. I used Shaded Spruce and Old Olive on their own and then used Granny Apple Green with Crushed Curry on the edges and then Pear Pizazz with Rich Razzleberry. I am really pleased with the way they have all turned out. 

I cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry 29.7cm by 14.85cm or half a sheet of A4 lengthwise. I scored this at 9.9 cm from each end before scoring them again this time at 4.95 cm from each end. On the 9.9cm score lines, using a pencil, I marked 5cm down from each long edge. Then across the centre panel on the top and bottom edges I marked the centre point of 4.95 cm. From there, using my trimmer, I scored between the 4.95 cm and the 5cm pencil mark on the scored lines on either sides of the 5cm marks. This was repeated on the top and bottom of the card. Now I have 2 large V's folded at the top and bottom edges.

From that point I cut mats out of the paper that I stamped the leaves onto and cut it into 4 pieces of 4.5 cm by 14.4 cm. I added 1 each to the right and left front panels. Using a pencil and laying the other 2 mats onto the card, I marked where the triangular cuts needed to be for each side then adhered them too. I cut a white mat 9.5 cm by 14.4 cm and laid that on top of the centre panel and I marked where the triangular cuts will be. I added a little detail of the long leaf along the edges of the white mat before adhering it to the card base. The triangles that I cut from the card mats were re-used on the opposing triangles. I added a number of the leaves to the front and added a sentiment which was punched out from the Label Me Lovely Punch. The white label was added back into the punch and punched again to make it smaller.  

Once the main card was completed, I added a square of Rich Razzleberry card 14.85 cm by 14.85 cm. I cut a white mat 14.4 cm by 14.4 cm and embossed that with the Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder before adhering the 2 mats together. I pencil marked the centre to and bottom then using Stampin' Up! Tear and Tape added it to the square. I made a belly-band in Rich Razzleberry and embossed white card. Then I added a few more plain white leaves to the centre front.

Throwback Thursday - Love of Leaves

 Well, the weather forecast for this week was rain, rain and more rain. It hasn't let us down either!! Rain, rain go away, come again another day. Do you remember ditties like that from your childhood too? There are soooo many I can remember. Anyway, enough reminiscing! Today's card with the Love of Leaves stamp set is yet another very simple one. I know that I've said that every day this week but they seriously are simple! Today's is similar to Tuesday's in as much as it's an aperture with paper below. This time I used a piece 10cm by 14.4cm of the Simply Elegant Speciality Designer Series Paper and added to the Gorgeous Grape, purple card base. I then cut a White matt 9 cm by 13.4 cm and die cut the large maple leaf from the centre. I then embossed the matt on it's own using the Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder. I chose this one as the pattern matches with the pattern on the DSP. The mat was fixed to the DSP using Dimensionals and the leaf that was die cut earlier was added in the same way. Another simple 'Hello' completes this card today.  

Watercolour Wednesday - Love of Leaves

Hello for this lovely to be a very wet Wednesday! Very apt really as this is Watercolour Wednesday! My card this week is another very simple card. Not true to watercolouring in the normal sense but still lots of water was involved! Using the largest leaf (I think it is supposed to be a Field Maple) from Love of Leaves stamp set, today I inked up the stamp in lots of ink and then using my spritzer, soaked it with water. Once done, I stamped it straight onto the white mat that I had beside my work. Now I hadn't planned on the next thing that happened but I'm so pleased it did. As I spritzed the stamp with the ink on, the ink sprayed onto the white mat! I repeated the inking and spritzing with all of the colours.

I used, Pacific Point (bright blue), Gorgeous Grape (strong purple), Melon Mambo (bright pink), Granny Apple Green (bright green) and Mango Melody (bright yellowish/orange). I wouldn't normally put all of those bright colours together but it just seemed the right thing to do for this card. The spritzing of the colour all over the card I'm really pleased with as it turned out, lucky me! 😀

It took a while to dry so I went away for about an hour and when I came back I loved the way the lines of colour had spread over the sides of the images and how the spots really look so cool! I love it! Ok, so once it was dry, I decided to chop it into rectangles or gutted the mat several times. By cutting the inside at 1.5cm inside the outer edges I was left with a frame. I continued to do this twice more and the last one was just left as it is. Adding these rectangle frames onto a piece of the bright coloured card and trimmed all round before mounting each layer using Dimensionals or foam adhesive shapes. Another simple sentiment inside and out by colouring each of the letters using a Stampin' Write Marker pen in the exact colours.

 

Technique Tuesday - Love of Leaves

 Today's card is really another simple card but this time I used most of the leaf dies. I started with a piece of white card 10cm by 14.4cm and placed all of the dies over the mat and die cut them out. To add a little more texture, I embossed the white mat with the Hive embossing folder. I cut a piece of the Rainbow Glimmer papers just under the measurements of the white mat. I fixed the white over the glimmer paper using Dimensionals or foam adhesive shapes. I love the way that the different colours of the glimmer shows through. 

A simple sentiment from the stamp set and one of the die cuts that I cut from the mat completes this card.

Simple enough?

Make It Simple Monday - Love of Leaves

 Well!!! This last 2 weeks has been a real whirlwind and I think I am just beginning to come back down to earth again! Last Monday was a milestone birthday for me but the Saturday and Sunday before was our annual Retreat for the 1st time since the Covid pandemic hit us all. Unknown to me, on the Saturday evening everyone had got together and arranged a surprise birthday party for me too! So having had a break after such a busy time, this week I am pushing myself to use a stamp set that I love but have never used. AT ALL!! Love of Leaves has a coordinating set of dies which are called Stitched Leaves Dies. These are what I am working with this week. 

There are 5 different leaf stamps in the set along with a number of sentiments. Using only the one leaf stamp, I stamped into the centre of a white mat with Granny Apple Green Ink Pad. I stamped another leaf onto a post it note and cut around it. If you place another of the images over the first image, it will protect the first one and show the rest to the sides. I did this 4 times and got the leaves all together. 

If I use the same colour as I have in the white on white, I like to show the edge of the mat with the matching ink pad. Just by stepping the edges onto the pad and picking up a smidge of ink all the way around makes it pop on the card. A simple Thank You on a small scrap of white card and then it was fixed to the card front to complete this one.
