Make It Simple Monday- #simplestamping - Happiness Abounds

 Hello. Once again, Cary excelled last week didn't she? Some more beautiful cards from her... here's hoping that I can make some more. I am going to use the Happiness Abounds stamp set this week. I know that it's one that I used a while ago but I couldn't decide so opened the back of the catalogue and pointed to a stamp set in the Index. This is the winner. 

So as it's #simplestamping, I have made a simple card with a few colours of ink and Memento black ink. 

I used a C block from Stampin' Up! and covered it in ink and then placed it firmly onto the card. I repeated it twice more and then stamped some of the flowers with the Memento ink across them. I used 3 soft colours, Yellow, (So Saffron), Lilac, (Highland Heather) and Pink (Blushing Bride).

 

Make It SImple Monday - Cheerful Basket

Hello and thank you for stopping by. This week I have decided to use the Cheerful Basket stamp set with the occasional use of the dies. My first as always is a very simple card. Of course I have used my grand-daughters pencils for colouring but this time I have used the lovely bright red of Poppy Parade and Basic White card. The cards on Monday's from both Cary and I are aimed at the beginner crafter. This is quite an important thing as let's face it, we all started somewhere and followed others to get ourselves started with card making. We used to spend hours and hours trawling the internet and talking to other card makers to get advice. So we know how overwhelming it can be. 

Going back to today's card, I cut a piece of A4 card in half, lengthwise and then folded it down in half again to make the card base. I had a scrap of white in my offcuts pot that was wide enough to just add a panel across the centre. Before adding that to the card, I stamped the hearts from the stamp set twice starting roughly in the bottom centre of the panel. Then using ordinary colouring pencils, I coloured it in. The sentiment was added above the hearts and another sentiment for the inside of the card mat (the white mat). A mat is used to add layers of different sizes and colours if you want to add dimension to your projects. 

That was it really. I used multipurpose wet glue to the backs of the white mats to adhere them to the card base and this was completed. 

Make It Simple Monday - #simplestamping - Count On Me

 Hello and welcome back this week. On Saturday just gone, we held an all-day class at our usual rooms and it is so good to be back in there. Well, it would be if I had been there! Unfortunately, I came down with the dreaded Covid last week so had to stay home on Zoom! Never mind, it kept everyone else safe! This week, however, I am going to continue making animal cards. I have chosen one set that I didn't use and that is called Count On Me. 

The all-day class was based on which ever creature stamp set the attendees wanted and Cary and I made cards that could be adapted for any kind of animal stamps. It would appear to have been a good idea as everyone enjoyed being able to choose their own stamp set. Bonus! The cards on a Monday are all simple cards and this is no exception. An image and a sentiment, a squiggle with a colouring pencil and it's completed.

   

Make It Simple Monday - Cottage Rose

 Welcome back on this much cooler Monday! We had some real scorchers over the last few weeks here in the UK. It was really different!! Anyway, this week I'm going to be playing with Cottage Rose stamp set and the coordinating papers, Abigail Rose Designer Series Papers (or double sided papers). I will explain though, I am going to have some very important help this week as I have now got carpal tunnel in my right hand and finding it difficult to do my normal things! My grand-daughter Bella is helping me wherever and whenever she can, particularly with the fussy cutting. She is an absolute superstar!

Today's card is a very simple one that I stamped the leaf using a Memento Black ink pad onto a white mat. Then using the stamp again, I inked it again and stamped off once onto my grid paper then the stamped the image onto the corners of the card. I repeated this along the outer edge of the card base too to get the soft, light image. I wanted this to be a simple monochromatic card today and matted the small mat onto some black card to define it.  

 

Technique Tuesday - Love of Leaves

 Today's card is really another simple card but this time I used most of the leaf dies. I started with a piece of white card 10cm by 14.4cm and placed all of the dies over the mat and die cut them out. To add a little more texture, I embossed the white mat with the Hive embossing folder. I cut a piece of the Rainbow Glimmer papers just under the measurements of the white mat. I fixed the white over the glimmer paper using Dimensionals or foam adhesive shapes. I love the way that the different colours of the glimmer shows through. 

A simple sentiment from the stamp set and one of the die cuts that I cut from the mat completes this card.

Simple enough?

Make It Monday - Batik Bouquet

 Hello and thank you for joining me today. I will be using the Batik Bouquet stamp set this week for my cards.  Today I have used only Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad for this card. #Simplestamping is the theme for Monday's and with this card today, this is just the ticket! I have stamped the flower, the centre of the flower, and the leaves with the Memento and then drew a line using a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker Pen. I have coordinated the stamps this week with the sentiments from Best Year. 

Make It Monday - Wild Cats

Welcome back on this wet Monday! Well, as it always is in the UK rain follows sun and as we had the most amazing weather over the last week, it had to come to an end. For now. I'm a glass half full kind of person, I like to look on the optimistic side. Sometimes! Well, this week I have challenged myself to use a stamp set that I have no idea what to do with and here it is! Stampin' Up!'s Wild Cats is just that. I have 2 cards to show you the other 2 were torn up and thrown in the recycling! 

Anyway using only Stamps, Ink and White Card I made the first one. I stamped the big cat straight onto the card then the stripes and finally stamped the plants around and above. A simple sentiment and it's complete. 

The second card has a little extra as I used the coordinating DSP or Designer Series Paper. These double sided papers have the most amazing designs on. I chose the simple plants piece but this time stamped the cat onto a piece of white card, fussy cut it out and then fixed it to the front panel. A sentiment on White card and the insides, then both cards were completed. 2 very simple cards that when I stopped over thinking it, I found very quick to put together. Typical! That's me! 😂😂

 

 

 

Make It Monday - Lovely You

 Hello. I'm sorry to have missed being here for a few weeks but paperwork was calling me desperately! Well here I am back and bursting with crafting frenzy, I've not made anything for what seems like ages...probably 2 weeks...but however. This week for the #simplestamping technique I am using a lovely stamp set called Lovely You. This is a brilliant stamp set with 12 messages or phrases and 7 images. Not a massive amount of images but let's see how I can make some inspiring cards for this week shall we? 

Another thing I sometimes do is only using Stampin' Write Marker pens. Yes, you can colour a stamp using the pens just as you can with an ink pad. I have made a simple patterned mat using the 3 colours shown then mounted it to the lovely strip of bright pink. The 3 colours are a gorgeous shade of lime green in Granny Apple Green, the beautiful bright pink of Magenta Madness and the rich, unctuous green of Shaded Spruce. In addition to the pens, the only other tool I used was a punch. This is the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch. This punch can punch up to 6 different widths of card in 2 amazing shapes. Love it!

Tips, Tricks and Techniques Tuesday - Delicate Petals

 Well, I have had great fun today. One of my favourite techniques which was probably one of the first things that I learnt is One Sheet Wonder. Now there are many types of one sheet wonder. Many people cut the A4 sheet of paper or card into lots and lots of mats. As many as 24 or more can be made! That's not what I like to do. I like to take all of the stamp images from the particular set and randomly stamp them in different colours all over an A4 piece of card. Sound simple? Yes, it totally is. 

I stamped my sheet then cut it in half portrait style. Then I just started cutting it up! Here's the resulting cards from less than half a sheet of A4. You can see the remainder of the sheet in the last picture. Such a quick and simple technique, I think everyone should have fun doing it!
