Technique Tuesday - Magnolia Mood

 Hello again. My card today is a very easy one. Using the stamp set Magnolia Mood, and a mat 7cm by 10.5cm white mat and placed it in the centre of a White mat 10.5cm by 14.4cm then stamped an image on both opposite corners of the mats. As you can see, they overlapped the corners. I then stamped 2 more to go to the actual outer corners. There will be a small gap where the images were stamped because of the thickness of the card. That's not a problem as the next thing to do is to adhere the small mat onto a matching piece of coloured card. This would be approximately 0.5cm larger than the actual card mat. 

I added it to the card front and coloured the flowers all using my Stampin' Blends pens. 

That was it.

 

 

Technique Tuesday - Sale-a-bration -Softly Sophisticated

 Hello again and thank you for stopping by. Today's stamp set is the pretty Softly Sophisticated. As I said yesterday, I really do love the Designer Series Papers DSP that are in the Sale-a-bration SAB catalogue this month. This set is really so delicate and can be used for many different style of cards especially when pairing it with the gorgeous DSP's. That is one of the most interesting things about what crafters do, we mix and match with all sorts of products. It's great isn't it? The paper I used today is called Sunny Days 12" by 12".

Anyway, my technique this week is using up some of the scraps on my table. I'm sure that we all have those bits and pieces somewhere waiting to be used and Oh! Boy! Do I have a load of them! I used my black and red colours today, which is another of my favourite colour combinations. I started by embossing 3 pieces of the coloured card using the Softly Sophisticated embossing folder. Once embossed, I started to play with layering them, placing one piece under and over another until I got the combination that I was happy with. I cut a narrow gap down the centre of the black and red mats and taped the piece of plain white through the slot onto the back of the mats. I stamped the images in just black (Memento) and the gorgeous red of Poppy Parade and added the sentiments inside and out.

Technique Tuesday - Everlasting Beauty

 Today was a bit of a challenge but easier after I thought about it. Using the stamp set Everlasting Beauty, I stamped and coloured many, many of the images of this flower. It really wasn't working out as I had hoped until my son and his daughter came home. They fell in love with the colours on this flower here. I started with a simple mat that I stamped the flowers in the gorgeous soft grey of Smoky Slate. Starting in the centre, I stamped the flower randomly over the mat and then using a blending brush, I added some layers of the beautiful soft baby pink of Bubble Bath. It was the green that I had problems with as I hadn,t completely worked it out in my head which colour was correct. After several tries, I fell in love with the gorgeous bluish-green of Lost Lagoon. That was it! That was the one that I needed. I knew instantly I saw it that it was the correct one.

Technique Tuesday - Joy To You and Gift of Giving

 Hello again. Today's card is similar to Monday's card in that I used the same stamps from both sets again but placed them slightly differently. This one has the Joy To You stamp on the front which was stamped and added to a deep red piece of card called Cherry Cobbler. I then decided to chop it up! So using the Patchwork Pieces dies, I used the simple curvy shaped one on this. Now using the dies was not necessary but I like the texture that it has. Once the pieces were back together, I placed them onto a Cherry Cobber card base which I embossed with the gorgeous Christmas Tidings Embossing Folder. It embosses Christmas words all over in different directions and sizes. I love it. 

I then stamped the Hot Chocolate cup onto a white mat and used my blends pens to colour this one in. 

Technique Tuesday - Beary Christmas

 Hello, today's technique is making a plain simple card look more interesting by embossing a plain background. We all know that embossing a mat gives an amazing texture anyway but this card has some of the gorgeous Textured Shimmer Paper and a plain white mat. I used a C6 card base in Night of Navy and with the white polar bears on top of the white mat just looked lost. I embossed the white mat with the new Snowflake Sky 3D embossing folder. I think it gives just the right effect, I hope you do. 

Technique Tuesday - Designer Series Paper - So Sincere

 Hello again. Today's card is a follow on from yesterday's card. Like most crafters, we don't particularly like wasting papers so once again using the Countryside Inn papers, I cut these 3 frames down to blend together. I used the So Sincere stamp set again for the sentiments. I have many great sentiment stamp sets and this is one of them. It's one thing to make a card for someone but it's even better with the appropriate sentiment. 

I started with a Blueberry Bushell card base and adhered the frames to the base of the card. I used a small white mat for the sentiment and using the Stampin' Write Marker pen in Blueberry Bushell to add the dots all around it. The technique today is using the strips and shapes of DSP wherever you can as they really are so very useful.

 

 

Technique Tuesday - Children's Cards - Happy Hedgehogs

 Today's card was made for a little girl called Mia I know who will be turning 5 very soon. She woke at about 10pm one night and looked out of her window to see little creatures outside. She was really excited as she'd never seen them before so her mum told her they were hedgehogs. She has loved them so much since that night and now everything is hedgehogs this and hedgehogs that! So I've used the stamp set called Happy Hedgehogs of course. I  started with a piece of Misty Moonlight card and stamped It's In The Stars stamp all over the card with a white ink pad. On a separate piece of card. I stamped the tree and hedgehogs then coloured them in using my Stampin' Blends pens. I fussy cut them all out and added them to what looks like the night sky on the card background. I used the Alphabest for the number and Charming Sentiments for the rest.

 

Technique Tuesday - Time Together

 Today's card using the Time Together stamp set is in one of my favourite colours, Poppy Parade, RED!!

This time I only used the lower half of the timer stamp. I inked up to the centre point in the soft blue of Balmy Blue ink pad. From there, I added lots of the pretty little flowers. The larger flower to the top and a few XOXO hearts and it was complete. I mounted the white mat onto a piece of the Poppy Parade card and both were added to the card base which now has a white embossed mat using the Metal Plate embossing folder. A sentiment onto the banner which I fussy cut out and the card was complete.

Technique Tuesday - Cheerful Daisies

 Continuing on with the simplestamping theme, but using a technique that I like using. By adding a piece of patterned paper to a card base and adding images or sentiments on top, you can make a very simple but pretty card. Using the Cheerful Daisies stamp set I stamped the sentiment and on a plain C6 mat I stamped another and some small flowers. I took the dies of the same name which go with the stamp set and die cut the large die which is the 3 daisies all attached together plus the inner parts of the daisies and die cut them all out in white card. Once cut out, I used a blending brush and gently brushed Balmy Blue ink across the inner parts of the 3 daisies. I left the main body white. I added some Tombow multipurpose glue to the back of the centres and placed them on top. I added the sentiments and completed the card.

Technique Tuesday - Dainty Delight

 Hello again and thank you for stopping by. Today's card is another simple one with a little blending and heat embossing. I started with a strip of card and using Versamark Ink pad, I stamped 3 of the stamps from the set Dainty Delight and poured White Embossing Powder over. Once I had removed the excess powder, I heat set it. Using my blending brushes, I brushed the NEW ink called Lemon Lolly over the top third. Then Fresh Freesia on the centre third. Fresh Freesia is now a permanent fixture in the catalogue. It was an In Colour for the last 2 years but it is now staying. Then last but not least, I used Granny Apple Green ink and brushed it over the bottom third. That's it really except for the Fresh Freesia card base which I embossed using the Fern fry embossing folder.

Technique Tuesday Men's cards

As I said yesterday, this week I am going to concentrate on making men's cards using different stamp sets. Today's set is Bamboo Beauty. This lovely, subtle stamp set is so pure and simple. I have used a technique that I occasionally like to do and this time is using some of the Silver Foil Speciality Pack of foiled papers. There are 3 different tones of silver foil and I often have difficulty deciding which to use.  

For today though, I chose 2 different shades. I cut 2 C6 card mats 10cm by 14.4cm and embossed only 1 of them using the Metal Plate embossing Folder. I then cut each one in half diagonally, in both directions. That gave me 4 triangles in each shade. I took the 2 sides from one and swapped them with the 2 matching sides from the other mat. It is as simple as that! I laid them face down and added tape to the back of them to re-join them into the C6 mat again. I used the third design of the foils with a 6cm by 6cm square which was turned diagonally too. The sentiment was centralised across the diagonal square before mounting onto the card. A few of the little bamboo shoots stamped and fussy cut to add the simple decoration on each one.

Technique Tuesday - Artistically Inked

 Thank you for stopping by today. My card for today using the Artistically Inked is another simple card but a technique too. I stamped the flowers all over the card front using Tahitian Tide ink pad and then stamped a few of the single leaves in Parakeet Party again, like I used yesterday. I then die-cut a leaf from the set of dies called Artistic. I chopped it into 2 pieces and adhered it straight to the card front. I stamped a sentiment in Memento ink onto the White strip of card then added that to a strip of the Parakeet Party card. I added the strip to the card front and then trimmed the excess off. It leaves me with a very bright and simple card that can be replicated using almost any stamp set.
