Fun Fold Friday - Magnolia Mood

 Hello for the last time this week. I have made a very quick and easy fun fold for you today. I know that I say that a lot but it really is true. The card today is still a standard A6 or C6 whichever is what you want to call it. It is made from half a sheet of A4 and scored and folded with some little extras. I started by stamping the small flowers from Magnolia Mood stamp set onto Highland Heather card in the same colour Ink pad. I then cut the images out and also die cut the large floral image too. In fact I die cut 3 of the large flower. I used Granny Apple Green, Bubble Bath and Highland Heather card. I wasn't sure which colour I wanted to show but by cutting each colour out and removing the leaves from 2 of the die-cuts I then added each one using Tombow multipurpose glue and finished off with the purple flower on the top. I rather like the light edge that you can just about see by having the pink beneath the purple. 

 Please see the layout below. I recently made one of these versions last week for my grand-daughter's 25th birthday as an A5 card. The only difference was the measurements on the outer corner as well as obviously the card base. If you want to make an A5 or C5 card base, the score marks on the corners should be at 7cm where it shows 5cm on each area.

Once the card base was made, I chose some DSP from the Perennial Lavender papers. I love the colours used in them, including the Crumb Cake background of some of the papers. Anyone who knows me knows that my least favourite colour of card is beige or Crumb Cake! YUK! That sounds terrible for me to say but I love all of the other colours just not that one! Sorry!!

As I wrote on the layout, the mats for the front and inside of the card is 14.4 cm wide by 10 cm wide. I then marked the paper at 5cm the same way as on the card base and trimmed those triangles off. For the inside, I cut 2 mats in the same papers and another smaller mat in White card for the sentiments. I love the way that the white pops off the page with the purple shades behind it. 

 

 

 

Here is the completed inside view. The triangles that I cut off from the original rectangle were used to fill in the inner corners but had to be trimmed down a couple of ml or very small fractions of an inch.

I decorated the edges with small circles of DSP adhered to slightly larger circle of Glimmer papers and the flowers that I stamped at the beginning were adhered to them.  They do look a little like Mickey Mouse ears but they arent!! The large die cuts were fixed to the front of the card using Dimensionals to add some more height.

This or That Thursday - Magnolia Mood

 Hello, today's 2 cards are very similar this week which is I suppose the idea. Using the Magnolia Mood stamp set, today I stamped the large flower and coloured them both differently. Obviously! One is the Berry Burst all over which is very like my Magnolia Soulangiana Nigra (black), that I have in my garden and the other is the standard beautiful Soulangiana. The first one I mentioned is called black but it truly is the colour of Berry Burst with darker shades in it. I have about 8 magnolias in the garden and they are just starting to bloom. They are so beautiful. 

 However, although I used the same colours they were each used in a slightly different way. The Holographic foils are both different. The foil behind the Berry Burst flower (THIS) is like waves bubbling across the water and the white flower (THAT) is very holographic and shines beautifully in lots of different colours. Apart from the direction of the cards, that's more or less it. It is therefore a case if which colour ways you like the best, or if at all? However, the landscape card I used a strip of retired Bubble Bath ribbon with the silver edging on the outer edges and as always, Stampin' Up! ribbons can be coloured really easily. How cool is that? I used the Berry Burst Stampin' Blends pen to colour this one today. I usually use my Stampin' Write Marker pens but today and for speed for it to dry quickly, it was the Blends  pen. They are both very easy to use and can do similar things too, very cool!

Watercolour Wednesday - Magnolia Mood

 Hello on another watery Wednesday! Yes, lots of rain ... for a change!! Today's card was one that I have made from when I made a card for our blends class only this one is using water based inks and not alcohol based pens. Using the Magnolia Mood stamps today, I stamped 3 times on one side of my Fluid 100 watercolour paper. 

First of all though, I started with cutting a standard sized mat of 10cm by 14.4cm. I masked off the area in the centre of the mat. I was left with approximately 7cm across the centre that was uncovered. Then I chose 4 equal sized acrylic blocks and stamped each one onto 4 different coloured inks. The colours I chose were, a beautiful soft but fresh lemon colour of Lemon Lolly, the bright pink of Melon Mambo, the gorgeous bright blue of Azure Afternoon and the bright green and my favourite Granny Apple Green. I used a large water brush and added a few drops of water from the brush and blended it in. I picked up some of the colour from the block with the brush and painted it onto the paper. I started with the lemon and swiped the brush over the masked off the area and added more colour until I was happy with it. I repeated the same with each of the colours and extended each of them a little on each side to blend all of the colours together. There was a little of the Granny Apple Green left so I added a hint of green over the lemon.  

I then stamped the magnolia image 3 times using Memento ink pad and coloured a butterfly from the Paper Butterfly Accents using some Melon Mambo.

              

Technique Tuesday - Magnolia Mood

 Hello again. My card today is a very easy one. Using the stamp set Magnolia Mood, and a mat 7cm by 10.5cm white mat and placed it in the centre of a White mat 10.5cm by 14.4cm then stamped an image on both opposite corners of the mats. As you can see, they overlapped the corners. I then stamped 2 more to go to the actual outer corners. There will be a small gap where the images were stamped because of the thickness of the card. That's not a problem as the next thing to do is to adhere the small mat onto a matching piece of coloured card. This would be approximately 0.5cm larger than the actual card mat. 

I added it to the card front and coloured the flowers all using my Stampin' Blends pens. 

That was it.

 

 

Make it SImple Monday - Magnolia Mood

Hello on this cool Monday morning. As you no doubt were aware, we held our annual retreat just over a week ago and I believe that everyone had a wonderful time. There was lots of laughter, creativity of course, food and most of all fun. It was wonderful. Now back to our normality. Cary's card last week were as always brilliant so I have to follow those! No pressure!! :))  This week I will be aiming to inspire you with the gorgeous Magnolia Mood stamp set. It does have dies to match but I won't be using them just yet. This is a sneak peak of one of the NEW stamp sets to be released very shortly.

Today's card as always is a simple one. I started by stamping a simple sentiment in the centre of a white mat and then lots of the leaves all around. I stamped and extra 3 and cut them out by hand and added them using foam shapes.
