Fun Fold Friday - In My Heart

Hello, WOW! It's Friday already! Where has the week gone? My family have all been away this week with the children on a short holiday so I've been home with the 2 dogs and it's been very quiet here! Just to let you know that I chose the Coastal Cabana card from yesterday for my son and daughter-in-laws wedding anniversary card. They loved it too so that was good. For today's card, I have been playing with a few bits of paper and have made a multi layer card using the In My Heart stamp set.

I started off  with a standard C6 card base and removed one triangle from the right on the front panel. I then added a 10cm by 11cm wide white mat which I scored at 1.5cm on the left and added it on top of the card base. The triangle, I cut off was given a fold at 1cm and adhered around at the back too. I had recieved a special, demonstrator only, pack of pink DSP for a challenge a few months ago. It is called Countryside Rose. It's identical to the Countryside Inn DSP except for the colours. Fortunately, I love both the blues and the pinks. I used simple pieces of DSP for this card and a mat of Melon Mambo card to go on the inside with a white card mat on top for the sentiments and images.

I then stamped and coloured all of the images once more and then punched them out using the Stampin' Up! circle punches in one size for the images and a slightly bigger one for the Melon Mambo cards for the pink behind them.

I added the tree to the inside and this once again tells the story of boy meets girl or girl meets boy and how life changes from there.

Well that's it from me for this week once more. Thank you for stopping by this week and I hope that you have been inspired to make yourself some cards too.

Until I get back, Cary will be here next week but as always...until I return,

KEEP SAFE, STAY WELL  but as always

KEEP ON CRAFTING

This or That Thursday - In My Heart

Hello, Tuesday was my son and daughter in law's 8th anniversary and today is my brother's birthday. I won't tell you how old he is as it will give my age away! Age is just a number right? The traditional gift for an 8th anniversary is Bronze apparently.  It is supposed to symbolise strength and longetivity but the modern idea is for linen and lace. I think I will stick with the bronze as I'm rather old fashioned in that way. Besides...I know Jemma doesn't like lace! Anyway, back to cards... using the In My Heart stamp set, today's choices are 2 cards both very similar and both have some pieces in different colours of the Delightful Floral DSP.

The design is one that I cased and converted into metric measurements from Susan Campfield. I do love her designs. She is one very talented lady. Thank you Susan.

A basic C6 card shape and a full length piece of white card for the inside at 14.4cm high and 29.7cm wide. I scored at 5.9cm and then every 3 cm until there was the 5.9cm left at the other end. It's so easy and so stylish to make. The Coastal Cabana card has squares on and the Berry Burst has the Spotlight on Nature circles. I made the green card with the little boy on the front and the pink with the little girl on. So I may give then both of the cards, then they can decide which to keep... if I don't decide which one first. They are away for a few days so I have until late tonight to make the final decision. Please help me?

Watercolour Wednesday - In My Heart

Hello, my card today is the 2nd attempt that I made. Using the In My Heart stamp set again today, I didn't like the first one at all so I tore it up!

I have been crafting for a long time now and there are still cards that get torn up and thrown away! I am more pleased with the second attempt fortunately. I started with Fluid 100 watercolour paper and started by soaking it with spritzing it with water. Then using a wide brush, I brushed some watered down ink straight across the paper. I used Misty Moonlight to start and then from abour 2 thirds of the way down, I change and added watered down Mossy Meadow ink. I find that if I stamp a clear block onto the ink pad and add a few drops of water onto it, I get the colour I want.

I am pleased with the results as I wanted it to be an evening effect and a couple having a cuddle under the tree in the moonlight. I punched out a circle for the moon and added Daffodil Delight ink randomly over the circle and heavier in some places. I stamped the image with black Stazon ink pad and then carefully started to watercolour the images in. It took a while and a heat gun to try to speed up the drying process a bit.

Tips, Tricks and Techniques Tuesday - In My Heart

For today's card using the In My Heart stamp set, I have gone blue. Afternoon Azure blue to be precise. It is such a vibrant blue, I love it. I added a piece of the blue card to the front of a white card base and then cut off the corners of a sheet of Designer Series Paper. I used the lovely Brights DSP and only 2 pieces of the Afternoon Azure. I place the corners in different directions and adhered them onto the blue card then having cut up several white strips of 0.5cm card, I added them to the edges of the shapes. I believe that this is called a fractured card as it  is in lots of pieces. Though I may well be wrong!!

I measured the centre that was left and found a square die from the Stylish Shapes dies and die cut one out. I then cut it down along one side to make it into a rectangle. It's very easy as you just add the die over the shape and trim off the part you don't need. Once that was done I repeated the same with a piece of white card for the image to be stamped onto. I stamped the little boy reading and then using my Stampin' Blends, coloured him in. I attached them both together using Dimensionals and placed them onto the card base. I then went on to adding some 0.5cm strips of the Azure Afternoon card next to the white strips to complete it.

Make It Simple Monday - In My Heart

Well, Cary has once again surprised me by making a stamp set that I don't like, much more favourable! Another one that I now need to buy! This week I will be working with a lovely stamp set that I kept looking at in the catalogue but didn't buy until very recently. So I need to make an effort and see what I can make with it. The set is called In My Heart and is a set of 9 stamps that are really pretty. Please let me know what you think?

A simple image stamped in a light grey onto a white mat and then just using some ordinary colouring pencils to colour the image in. I even made a border with a green pencil to edge the mats!
