Tips tricks and techniques Tuesday Friends for Life

Question what do you do with all those thin strips of cardstock that get chopped of when making cards or scrapbook pages? Here is one idea for using them up. The Friends for life bundle of the stamps and coordinating dies make for stylish focal points as well as sentiments!

Friends for life stampin up ways to use scraps cardstock tips tricks and techniques

Start by gathering your strips of cardstock.  The look for today's card requires them to all be the same width . Next trim them to all be the same length.  The ones in the sample are 0.5 cm x 6cm ( ¼" x 2⅜") . Now lay a line of double sided  tape across the center of a basic white cardstock mat. Starting at one side remove the tape covering a short way and carefully place your small strips onto the tape.

For today's sample the stips arr placed in colour blocks at various repeating heights. This gave the card a feeling of movement across the card front.

The flag sentiment is stamped in versamark onto black cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
The friend and heart are both die cut with the Friends for Life dies and black cardstock.
The heart die cuts 2 at a time so save the second one.

No scrap goes un used so some of the offcuts from the strips for the front are laid along the edge of the card insert to bring the outside in! The hearts are stamped and the remaining die cut heart used as well... waste not want not after all 😉.

This fun technique can be used in so many different ways.  You could use all the same colour to build texture. You could mix the colour strips randomly for a very different feel.... what other ways can you think off for using these thin strips? Comment below.
